C210 Blue Iris PTZ control
C210 Blue Iris PTZ control
Hi
Have set up 2 C210's on Blue Iris (and the Tapo app)
App works fine with PTZ control also working.
In BI, video feed is working correctly but can't get PTZ control to work. Have selected ONVIF and changed port to 2020 as per other posts. Can you help please? Thanks

Just a quick update!
TP-Link opened a ticket regarding my issue and requested some diagnostic logs. After I provided them, they were able to fix the problem and sent an OTA update to my camera (I needed to connect it to the internet to receive the update). This resolved the issue, and I've been informed that they will release it publicly in a couple of days.
Well done, TP-Link!

Hi,
In general, you can Pan & Tilt the camera via ONVIF once the camera establishes the ONVIF connection successfully.
You can try to remove the camera from Blue Iris, then reconnect them and check if you can Pan & Tilt the camera via ONVIF.

I also have an issue with C210 PTZ.
I made the same settings at suggested. However, either it does not work, or crashes the camera when trying to pan or tilt (i.e. it reboots). Very rarely it works and then after a few tries again it crashes or stops responding.
I have three Tapo C210 on fw 1.3.11 and all behave the same.
My setup:
- Cameras are disconnected from the internet (through a vlan).
- ONVIF is enabled
- Videos (main/sub stream) are being recorded and viewed on blue iris with no issue.
- PTZ is not functional as stated above.
- Blue Iris is v5.7.9.4
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
1. Can you Pan & Tilt your camera via the Tapo app?
2. You can check if it's possible to Pan & Tilt your camera when using other third-party apps, such as VLC player.

Hi,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
-
Yes, it works through the official app.
-
I tried another app (to my knowledge, VLC does not support PTZ). I used iSpy for testing, and it exhibited the same behavior: the camera may move once or twice in one direction, but then it crashes and reboots.
I discovered that if I enable internet access for the cameras (by disabling the firewall rule that prevents them from connecting to the internet), it starts working flawlessly on both Blue Iris and iSpy.
When I re-enable the firewall rule (disconnecting the camera from the internet), it continues to function for a while, but after rebooting the camera, it returns to its unstable PTZ condition.
This leads me to believe there is a bug that needs addressing. Specifically, it seems that ONVIF PTZ functionality is dependent on the camera's internet connectivity, which shouldn't be the case—it should work locally.
I understand that the initial design of these cameras is intended for cloud connectivity and use through the Tapo official app. However, many users, including myself, chose this specific product line for its local ONVIF support. This feature is crucial for privacy reasons, in my opinion, and I appreciate the effort TP-Link's developers have put into it.
How can I report this bug?
Thank you!
