Model: Tapo C225   Tapo C425
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have a C225 used thru window, is OK but reflection from the glass is an occasional problem during the day and big problem at night. Resolution is OK, but I wouldn't want it to be any less.

I am going to get an external camera to solve this. C225 has a fov of 90°. C425 has stated fov of 150°. Both state they have same 2k image quality. Does that mean C425 resolution is about 1/3 to a 1/4 that of C225 as it has to deal with a much bigger area?

If yes, then am I better off going for an outdoor camera with smaller fov eg TC82?

Also, what is the wake up time for C425? I.e time between motion detection trigger and start of recording for such a battery camera vs the wired powered C225? If this is a big problem then I could set up a power supply, but not easy as easy place to put a transformer.

Thank you!

Hi,
1. The Tapo camera's resolution has nothing to do with the FOV, it's recommended to go to the camera's specification page on our official website to know the camera's resolution info.

2. You can refer to the instructions below to know how the battery camera is woken up. The battery camera's wake-up time relates to the usage scenario(such as the distance, installation, etc.) and the specific motion. For the Tapo C425, once it's woken up, it will start recording around 300ms after detecting motion. The camera powered by the AC adapter does not have the wake-up time, typically, it records when detecting the motion.
What is the Wake-up Sensitivity of my battery camera/doorbell?

You can refer to the instructions below to position the Tapo camera for optimal performance.
How to position my TP-Link camera for optimal performance?

Best Regards
