Hi all

If a Tapo camera is installed with a  SD card is in my garage for security , can i directly look into the camera storage on my phone to view video footage . unsure if the phone can recieve alerts or do i need to continously need to remove the SD card, The modem is a fair distance from the garage.

Also with Tapo is connected to my TP link modem , if there is a break in and someone removes or steal the camera or modem is the video footage automatically backed up the the external servers so i can get footage of the person breaking into my home unit

Hi,
If the camera is connected to the modem to go to the internet and can be configured successfully, you can watch the camera's video recordings stored on the SD on the Tapo app, and if you have enabled the Notification feature on the Tapo app for your camera, you can receive notifications when the camera detects events.

How can I view continuous recordings of Tapo cameras on the Tapo app?
Where can I find detection recordings of Tapo cameras on the Tapo app?
How to configure the Notification feature for the Tapo devices on the Tapo app

When someone removes or steals the camera, the video recordings won't automatically back up to the external server. When the modem is removed/stolen, generally, the camera's detection feature and recording feature will continue to work even if there is no internet connection. However, you can't receive notifications and watch the video recordings on your phone but you can remove the SD card from the camera and connect it to a PC via an SD card adapter and then watch the video recordings on the PC.

Best Regards

Thanks for reply, actually i did a test after purchase, upon intruder alert and the C225 is unplugged i.e. disconnection from the modem the video is automatically saved at the time of disconnection, every second saved to the cloud

Hi,
If your camera has subscribed to the Tapo Care service, the camera's detection video clips will be uploaded to our cloud server when it has an internet connection and detects events.
Best Regards
