Model: Tapo C520WS
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have finally after a lot of hassle got my LED to work as an alarm at night.

Does anybody know if you configure it so the led comes on for selected time but not flash ???

I would like it to stay on for the selected duration

If you cannot this would be a good option to have if Tapo support people read this

Thanks Chris

Hi,
Do you want to turn on the spotlight on the camera during a selected time?
Currently, on the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Spotlight Settings page, you can select the ON duration to 30 minutes, and on the camera's Live View page, if you press the Bulb icon to turn on the spotlight, it will stay on for 30 minutes.
Best Regards

  @Solla-topee   thanks for the reply

I want is for when the led spotlight when is used in the alarm function to stay on , not flash, I dont use the audible alarm just the led spotlight

currently if you set the alarm to led spotlight only for example set the duration to 30 secs, the LED only flashes for about 5 seconds no matter what you set it to

To recap when I get a detection at night I want the spotlight to stay solid not flash and to work with a duration which I select, currently I have it set to 30 secs via the app but it still flashes only for 5 secs

Thanks chris

Hi,
For your usage scenario, I think you don't need to enable the Alarm feature, but ensure the Night Mode Settings on the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display page is set to the Smart Mode.
With the Smart Mode selected, when the camera goes into Night mode at night, the camera's spotlight will turn on(not flash) when it detects an event.
Best Regards

@vernonchris    Yes thats how it should but it does work on my camera, I have previously posted about this and you replied by saying that there is a BETA firmware update which you were going to send to my camera, I have supplied the MAC address

I beleive that smartmode is not working correctly, many other people have the same issue, using the alarm function is the only way I can get the LED spotlight to work with detection

Hi,
Your camera uses the beta firmware already, does the spotlight not turn on when the camera detects an event at night mode?

@vernonchris  No it does not in smartmode, comes on with the alarm function when it detects something but otherwise does not work

@vernonchris  Just tried it and in night the LED spotlight does come on when it sees a detection, but not when it is in auto mode

Hi,
Please note that with the Smart Mode selected on the camera's Device Settings >Video & Display > Night Mode Settings page, the spotlight will turn on when the camera works in the Night mode and detects an event.
On the camera's Live View page, if you have selected the Auto mode and the camera is working on the Day mode, the spotlight won't turn on when the camera detects an event.
Best Regards

OK. Lets go over the settings I have and what I have done

Currently it is daylight in the UK

I have just gone into the live view and selected NIGHT MODE, gone outside to get a detection and the spotlight comes on , all good

yesterday from the live view I selected AUTO, when it went dark last night I went outside to get a detection, I got a detection on my tapo app but the spotlight did not come on

In the video & display setting night mode setting is set to SMART Mode

My understanding is that when in AUTO mode the camera knows when it goes dark ???

Am I wrong ???
