Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.11 Build 20240724
Hello everyone,

My Deco XE75 Pros have been experiencing frequent problems with random internet disconnections. The main node and AP nodes consistently display a green LED; however, my devices often indicate no internet access, and this issue occurs several times daily. A reset sometimes stabilizes the connection, but the problem inevitably returns after 20–40 minutes.

Setup Details:

  • Hardware: Deco XE75 Pro (main node and two satellites).
  • Firmware: Updated to the latest available version.
  • Connection: Main node plugged directly into a modem/router combo.

Steps Taken:

  • Hard reset of the entire Deco network, which temporarily resolved the issue, but disconnections resumed.
  • Switched to AP mode as suggested in other threads, with no improvement.
  • Disabled features like Beamforming and Fast Roaming - device dropouts persisted.
  • Verified ISP modem/router bridge mode settings; no outages were reported in the area.
  • Tested my ISP router and computer directly connected to the media converter - no issues occurred.

Recurring Issues:

  • Devices (including smart home and IoT) repeatedly lose connection or disappear from the client list, even on a dedicated IoT band.
  • Satellite nodes frequently disconnect and reconnect and sometimes switch between wired and wireless backhaul.
  • LAN functionality stops working during WAN outages, preventing local file sharing and intranet activities.
  • The client list often displays incorrect device names or fails to update when devices connect or disconnect.

I’m wondering if TP-Link can provide beta firmware or more advanced troubleshooting steps. I’d also appreciate input from anyone who has resolved similar issues or found a reliable workaround.

If TP-Link moderators are reading this, could this issue please be escalated for further investigation? Any detailed guidance or a firmware update would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, Nice to see you again.

Are the two satellite units directly connected to the main Deco via Etherent cables, or all three Deco units directly to the ISP modem/router combo?

-If it is the latter, May I know the model number of the ISP router?

Can I also have the model numbers of the devices that constantly dropped out?

-If they are mainly 2.4GHz smart home devices, I have sent a beta firmware via email and you could check whether this version helps.

Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP

Thank you for your response.

All the satellite units are directly connected to the main Deco via Ethernet cables.

The wireless devices experiencing dropouts and Wi-Fi instability are mainly 5GHz devices.

The client devices do not seem to remain consistently connected to the closest, assigned or most appropriate Deco unit. Which in theory could be the culprit for unnecessary handoffs and instability in the network. However, network optimization can't be the reason for sudden internet connection loss or WAN port issues, can it?

Also, I'd like to point out that I have reduced the network complexity as much as I could. With only a few devices, and features like Fast Roaming, Beamforming, QoS, are remained disabled.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

Have you tried the beta firmware via email?

"Network Optimization" will restart the wireless module so Deco can re-evaluate whether the current wireless channels are crowded and need to be changed. It might cause a short-time WiFi outage during the optimization process.

As for the "Connection Preference" for the mobile clients, I wonder if they are more stable when the "Connection Preference" is set to "Auto".

By the way, How many online clients you have connected to Deco Mesh?

Is the dedicated IOT network set to "5GHz" only?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

I attempted to install the beta firmware, but it’s not compatible with my device.

I’ve tested the "Auto" setting, but it consistently connects to the AP that’s furthest away or does not adhere to the set preferences. Satellites seem to prioritize connection stability and history over proximity or user-defined preferences. Restarting nodes occasionally forces a reevaluation, but it’s not a reliable solution. Is there any way to improve adherence to the connection preferences or manually prioritize specific nodes?

I’ve reduced network complexity as much as possible. Currently, I have 10 devices connected to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. (6GHz is disabled for troubleshooting.) And only one IoT device, which uses the IoT network.

The challenge seem to be how the firmware currently handles proximity and signal strength prioritization. Relocating nodes or forcing restarts can temporarily resolve the issue, though this is far from ideal.

My IoT network supports both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands. However, in this case, band compatibility isn’t an issue since the single IoT device connected for troubleshooting measures is exclusively 2.4GHz.

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Following this closely. I have an XE75 Pro v2 that has been absolutely terrible lately. I have 3 units, wired backhaul. ISP is just an ONT, have ~75 devices. Its most noticable on video calls, its just constant hiccups. If I run pings, i'll drop packets or every few pings will have crazy high latency then back to normal. Will see hiccups and pauses when trying to browse the internet too. This doesn't seem like a one off problem checking the forum and the internet for XE75 /Pro issues but there seems like there is no rush to fix it either.

Had no issue with this network until i switched to the XE75s, was running fine on old Google Nest Wifi devices.

Hi, Thanks for the update.

Could you please test whether the beta firmware I just sent via Message helps with the current issue?

By the way, can I also have the model numbers of the devices that didn't follow the "Connection Preference"?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @Kabello

Hi, May I know why you want to test the beta version for Deco XE75_V2?

Have you experienced any performance issue with the current firmware version?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi, after an automatic update to version 1.2.12 build 20240813 Rel. 15090, some devices are randomly disconnected and, after a while, they reconnect. Sometimes, when I connect a new device, it takes up to 5 minutes to appear in the online clients list.

Other issue is, about IoT network. I have 3 networks, the main one, guests and IoT. When I search for a network on a cell phone, for example, the IoT network does not appear, I have to turn the wifi off and on a few times for the IoT network to appear.

I didn't do any change on the infrastructure, all devices are at the same positions before update.

By the way, on the support website, only version 1.2.9 is available; version 1.2.12 was provided via OTA.

Could you also send me a link to firmware version 1.2.12 build 20240813 Rel. 15090? I'd like to have at least this version before using the beta version.

Thanks
