Unstable Network despite full WiFi signal

Model: Tapo D235
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.14

Having an issue where I'm unable to use any cloud features, add my partner to device sharing etc due to "Unstable Network"

I am unsure with how the Tapo App works if this is an unstable network to the camera or my phone however both devices have full strength of WiFi

My doorbell is hardwired and my home internet is running from 2 x Ubiquiti UniFi LR 6 (long range model) Access Points, which are set with mirrored SSID and separate fixed channels for roaming around the house, the closest of which is positioned approx 2.5 meters from the doorbell

My previous Ring doorbell didn't have this issue and this is the only frustration I've got since switching, every other aspect of the D235 is leagues ahead

Any help solving this would be appreciated

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.
  1. Please ensure the Tapo app is up to date.

  2. Please go to the doorbell's Device Settings > Device Info page, tap the Wi-Fi icon, and send us the RSSI value.

  3. Do you see the "Unstable Network" notice when you local or remote control the camera on your phone? Does the problem happen all the time?

  4. Check if the camera connects to the closest AP or not on your AP's management page if possible.

Best Regards

That seems WAY too weak for that range. I mean, -67 should still be 'OK' but I would personally get that down before troubleshooting further.

FYI, I'm also running UNIFI APs (But the AC versions ... so not as powerful as yours).

I get < -50 RSSI , incuding on cameras much further than 2.5 meters.

I *did* sometimes have issues with the external cameras before I ran cat5 to them, and those were IIRC around -70

Might be worth adjusting radio power in the unifi controller, and IIRC there's also an 'optimise now' button which may redistribute your channels to help prevent interference.

Unless of course you have a steel door in the way? :)

Hope this helps?
