Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.4.1

I'm experiencing intermittent network issues with a TP-Link Tapo C200 IP camera. The device works fine for a few hours but then starts exhibiting severe latency and packet loss, as shown in the following ping example:

Request timeout for icmp_seq 559
Request timeout for icmp_seq 560
64 bytes from 10.0.11.82: icmp_seq=557 ttl=64 time=4262.997 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.11.82: icmp_seq=558 ttl=64 time=3602.675 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.11.82: icmp_seq=560 ttl=64 time=2026.528 ms
Request timeout for icmp_seq 564
Request timeout for icmp_seq 565
Request timeout for icmp_seq 566
Request timeout for icmp_seq 567
Request timeout for icmp_seq 568
64 bytes from 10.0.11.82: icmp_seq=565 ttl=64 time=4585.926 ms
Request timeout for icmp_seq 570
Request timeout for icmp_seq 571
64 bytes from 10.0.11.82: icmp_seq=567 ttl=64 time=5409.015 ms
Request timeout for icmp_seq 573
Request timeout for icmp_seq 574
Request timeout for icmp_seq 575
64 bytes from 10.0.11.82: icmp_seq=569 ttl=64 time=7736.727 ms
Request timeout for icmp_seq 577
Request timeout for icmp_seq 578
Request timeout for icmp_seq 579

Then it starts to work again by itself. The camera is connected via Wi-Fi 11 - 2.4 GHz with fixed ip, and the issue persists despite restarting the device and checking the network.

Could you please assist in diagnosing and resolving this behavior?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,
1. What's the LED status on the camera when it does not respond to the ping command?
2. What's the model number of your router? You can check if rebooting the router will be helpful.
3. Please describe your network diagram.
4. How long do you have the camera? When did the problem start?

Best Regards

Hello, sorry for the delay.

  1. The LED status is OFF when the device does not respond.
  2. UniFi AC Pro – I'm pretty sure it has been rebooted multiple times.
  3. Simple network setup with two APs (the camera is locked to the closest one), using the 10.0.11.0/24 range.
  4. I've had the camera for a couple of months, and it has behaved this way since the beginning.

Thank you.

V.

Hi,
1. Please ensure the Status LED option is enabled on the camera's Device Settings page. Usually, the camera's LED shouldn't be off if the Status LED option is enabled.

2. Can you set up a separate Wi-Fi network on the AP that the camera connects to? If so, connect the camera to the new Wi-Fi network and check if it will work fine.

3. Is the camera connected to a mesh network?

4. What problem do you have when failing to ping the camera? For example, can't load the camera's live feed or other phenomena.

5. What device is ping the camera? Is it connected to the same AP and same Wi-Fi as the camera?

Best Regards
