Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.1.4

I have two C200 cameras, one HW v3 and the other v5.

Surprisingly, the two cameras of the same model have reached very different firmware versions (v3 1.4.1,  v5 1.1.4), which gives different capabilities to each of the HW versions.

e.g., v5 has a 1080 selector on the live view, absent in v3. More annoyingly, v5 is missing the panoramic scan option in the Pan&Tilt section, so you cannot scan the room and then point at specific sectors to look at on a picture. Another missing functionality is the Google Home integration and streaming possibility from v5.

Are there any plans to add the missing functionalities?

Anybody experiencing similar issues?

How can the buyer be sure about what HW version they are buying before they get to open the box?

PS: I manually searched for newer firmwares for v5, and nothing pops up in the app. Even worse, V5 does not even pop up in the options on the official support page: https://www.tp-link.com/dk/support/download/tapo-c200/

Hi,
It's usual that different hardware versions of the same Tapo camera model have different firmware versions, and some functions may not be exactly the same.

  1. If you can't select video quality on the live view page, you can go to the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Video Quality page to select it. The best resolution for the Tapo C200 V3 is 1080P.

  2. Tapo C200 V5 supports work with Google Home. If you can't stream the Tapo C200 V5 on a Google Home device, please check if the configuration is correct, and below are some setup and troubleshooting instructions.
      1) How to connect my Tapo / Kasa smart device to Google Home
      2) Cannot make TP-Link smart devices work with Google Home

  3. The Pano function on the Pan & Tilt page is a Beta function rather than an official function, so it may not be added on V5. If you want this feature, you can submit a feature request here

  4. Are you purchased the Tapo C200 V5 in Denmark?

  5. There is usually a label on the package showing the model, S/N and Hardware version.

Best Regards
