Model: Tapo C212
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Tapo C212(EU)_V2_1.4.4 Build 241211

I want to downgrade the firmware to Tapo C212(EU)_V2_1.3.14 Build 240514 because the update introduced problems. The camera does not work with my home system anymore.

How can I do that? There is no option in the app and I cannot find downloads for older firmware versions.

Thanks

Hi,
There are no instructions to downgrade the firmware, and we suggest locating and solving the problem based on the new firmware.

What's your home system? Please describe your problem phenomenon and usage scenario in detail for further assistance.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

Sorry for the late reply.

The current firmware breaks existing ONVIF integrations. I cannot use the same software anymore, since some of the data transmitted by the camera has changed.

There is a timestamp attached to the messages returned from the camera which has an invalid format.

Here is a related issue, which has not been addressed for 7 months: https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/638288

I have investigated more and the issue stems from the camera responding with the incorrect timestamp in the GetStatus, but probably other requests as well.

The expected value is an ISO 8601 datetime stamp (eg. 2025-05-15T13:39:16), but includes a timestamp in the format of "Thu May 15 13:39:16 2025".

According to the ONVIF spec the GetStatusRespone Message should include a UTC timestamp:
https://github.com/onvif/specs/blob/73e1cc7020294c434b0753b316cb87402b616d33/wsdl/ver10/schema/common.xsd#L124

The datatype for the field "UtcTime" on the return PTZStatus is declared as "xs:dateTime", which is a standardized format and needs to conform to the ISO 8601.

The interface deviates from the ONVIF standard. This is a regression in the cameras firmware.

I want access to previous firmware images, so that I can use my camera again, please.

@ymlu  Hi, what software are you using to establish the Onvif connection with the Tapo C212? Have you tried other programs, such as establishing the Onvif connection with the camera via iSpy?
