Model: Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.1

Hello,

I have 2 TAPO C320WS cameras and for the past few days, both of them have stopped switching to infrared mode at night. In both cases, “infrared mode” is selected in the video settings, however, at dusk the cameras continue to capture color images, contrary to what was defined in the settings. In real-time viewing, the “Auto” option is selected. Both devices have firmware “1.4.1” and the hardware version is “1.0”. I don’t know if there was a firmware update because automatic update is enabled.

In an attempt to solve the problem, I removed the cameras from the application and redid the settings from scratch, as if it were the first time I had configured them, however, the problem persists.

Could you help me solve this problem?

Thanks!

  @MVBM

Hi,
Typically, the camera will automatically switch between Day/Night mode according to the ambient light conditions when the Video mode is set to Auto mode. For example, if the camera does not switch to Night mode when gets dark, it may be because the ambient light conditions do not reach the threshold for switching modes, and the camera may switch to Night mode in darker conditions.

On the camera's Live View page, you can select the Night mode and check if the camera will switch to this mode properly.

On the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Night Mode Settings page, if you select "Infrared Mode", the camera will capture black-and-white images all the time after it switches to the Night mode. However, when the camera works in the Day mode, the settings on the Night Mode Settings page won't take effect.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

First of all, thank you for your help.

I didn't notice any change (increase) in the brightness of the room where the cameras are installed.

Anyway, I'm going to try to reconfigure them from scratch, using the reset bu77on, to see if I can definitively resolve this situation.

Thanks again!

Hi,
The problem may not solved through reset operation since the threshold for switching Day/Night mode won't change after reset.

Could you please send us a picture of the camera's live view page at dusk when you think it should switch to night mode, but it doesn't?

Please check if the camera will switch to Night mode after you select the Night mode manually on its Live View page.

Best Regards
