Hello there!

 

I just bought the camera today. I also have a chromecast, the new generation.

 

After configuring the Tapo app I can connect to the camera on my Samsung s23 phone, see the image clearly, move the camera around and such.

 

Then I linked the google home app with tapo app, link was successful and I can see the device on the google assistant.

 

When I say Hi google, and I command the assitant to see my camera on my chromecast, it says ok, transmitting your camera to your chromecast, and nothing happens. 

 

I saw videos where after linking the google home and tapo apps you could transmit it like that, very easily, but somehow its not working. 

 

Camera is ok, and also I can access the camera from my tv using some IP camera viewer app that supports onvif protocol, so Camera I think its ok. 

 

I tried resetting the camera, linking all the things again, same output. Is there a way to troubleshoot this? or some extra step to do in this cases?

 

I can stream netflix and other apps from my phone to the chromecast without issues, all the devices are in the same network and see each other, just not streaming.

Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.


  1. What's the firmware version of your Chromecast?
  2. When you try to stream the camera on your Chromecast but fail, does any error message appear on the Chromecast?
  3. Please send me(@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message.
  4. Try to reproduce the issue, record the date, time, and time zone when the same problem happens, and then send me the date, time, and time zone for analysis.

Thanks for the quick response. 

 

This is the data you requested:

1- Chromecast V4 firmware 3.72.446070

2- Chromecast is not showing anything related to the connection attempt. Its on the wallpaper mode showing pictures as usual when no device is connected.

3- sending mac on private msg

4- sending also on msg

  @Solla-topee Is there any update on this? I have a new C260 that also cannot cast to a Chromecast. I have 3 other Tapos, 2 x C211 and 1xC230 and I can stream those too the Chromecast. 

 

The error I get when trying to cast the C260 is this...

 

The CameraStream operation is not supported for casting in this way.

  1. Please confirm if you can watch the Tapo C260 locally and remotely in the Tapo app.
  2. Is the Tapo C260 connected to the Google Home successfully? Please refer to the following instructions to confirm.
      How to connect my Tapo smart device to Google Home 
  3. How do you view the camera's live feed via Chromecast?
  4. Please send me(@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message. 
  5. Try to reproduce the reported phenomenon, record the date, time, and time zone when it happens, and then send me the date, time, and time zone for analysis.

I have a similar issue with my recently purchased Tapo C246D. 

 

They have been successfully added to the Tapo app. 

I am able to see the feeds through the Tapo app

I am able to see the PT lens through my Google home hub when I ask it to through "OK Google command" 

 

However, when I try and cast the stream through to a Chromecast, Google tells me "Sorry it looks like the stream is currently unavailable from the the Tapo Camera" 

 

Note that my other, older Kasa cameras work perfectly when casted to a Chrome cast. 

 

The firmware on the camera is up to date. 

 

I can also see the camera listed in the Google home app. 

As others I cannot see a live stream in the Google home app. I also cannot see a love stream of my older Kasa cameras. I understand TP link are working on a fix for this. 

 

I would share a screenshot proving both the Tapo and Kasa actions are linked through the Tapo app to Google Assistant but sadly your app does not allow screenshots.

 

Please can you help.

How to stream Tapo Camera on a Google device
 

In your situation, please confirm the following information for further assistance.
  1. Please double-check if you can stream the camera's live feed remotely in the Tapo app.
  2. You can change the Tapo C246D's Device Name on the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Device Info page, unlink the Tapo app from the Google Home app, and relink them. Then, check if this helps.
  3. If not, please send me(@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message. 
  4. Try to reproduce the reported phenomenon, record the date, time, and time zone when it happens, and then send me the date, time, and time zone for analysis.
