Can someone out there tell me how to set a constant light when motion is detected at night. At the moment I can only set a flashing light. Thanks in advance

  @Solla-topee ,

Thank you fir the reply, but none of the 3 options allow the light to be permanently on when motion is detected at night.

A flashing light is still the only option.

This is not really of much use if I want to capture an image of someone on my property.

I have to ask if indeed my Tapo has this capability, from where I'm sitting, it does not or is faulty

Hi,
Please confirm the following information about your issue.
  1. What's your camera's model number, hardware, and firmware version?

  2. What setting have you selected in the Alarm Type on the camera's Device Settings > Alarm page?

  3. Which mode have you selected on the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Night Mode Settings page?

Best regards

  @Billythewhippet

Hi,
1. It's suggested to remove the picture showing your camera's MAC address from the community.

Update:

We tested a Tapo C425 V1.2, FW:1.2.25, and configured the same settings as your camera; when no events are detected at night, the camera's spotlight turns off. When the camera detects events at night, the spotlight turns on but does not flash.

In your case, if the camera's spotlight is flashing when it detects events at night, could you please send me the videos showing the reported issue? You can upload the video to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

So you are effectively tell ing me that the spotlight cannot be set to constant when an event has been detected.

If so please add the number of returns so that i can return the camera as this was the whole purpose of purchasing one in the first place

Hi @Billythewhippet,

I can see in Camera alarm configuration screen you set light alarm type.

As far as I remember for that time when tried this function, light alarm means flashing/blinking white light.

I can imagine that the mentioned function can overlap the night mode setting and the built in white light will flashing instead of continuous light.

Could you please try to change the alarm settings?

  @SecCamFan Its looking more and more like I have a faulty unit as detection has now  become non existent. I will try a master reset first before I contact TP link
