Model: Tapo C310
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

For some reason, the keyboard on my iPad does not put in an appearance when I attempt to input the camera model!

it is a Tapo C310.

It has been originally set up using my other (main) email address which is on my phone.

Being an old git of some 78 summers and attempting to maintain my tenuous grip on technology, I have "shared" the camera with my iPad, I the hope that I will be able to enjoy a larger screen and also to be able to connect with this forum!

My original tapo I.D. though it connects perfectly with the camera, it seems that the forums don't like my choice of password, so I am unable to access the forum under my original Tapo I.D (why do these things only happen to me?)

Having completed the sharing request on my phone under the original I.D. and received it on the iPad, The dratted thing does not connect to the camera.

the instructions seem to be the same as the original set up, asking if it's Ethernet or WiFi, it is infact WiFi but proceeding through the set up, it asks me to open the settings and go to WiFi where the only entry is for my internet connection with no way to "seek new devices"!

How do I set this up?

I don't have much time as I am preparing to go on holiday tomorrow which is why I need the share, in order to have the larger screen and keyboard for my failing eys and sausage fingers!

I would be really grateful for some swift response please.

Thanks.

  @DirtyLilMonkey

Hi,
If you have a phone and an iPad, and the Tapo Camera is displayed properly on your phone, it's recommended to go to your phone > Tapo app > Me page to find your TP-Link account. If you do not remember the password, you can refer to the following instructions to change the password.
What can I do if I forget my password of the cloud account

On your iPad, you can log in to the Tapo app using the same TP-Link account & password.

This will grant you full permissions to access the camera, just like on your phone. If the iPad belongs to you, there is no need to share the camera with another TP-Link account and log in to the iPad with the shared account.

Typically, you can access the community page on your phone/iPad through the Tapo app > Me > Support Center > Outdoor Cameras > Tapo C310 > Visit Community. If you want to reply or post a thread, you need to log in to the Community with your TP-Link account. This TP-Link account does not need to be exactly the same as the TP-Link account you use to log in to the Tapo app. You can use the same account or different accounts to log in to the Community.

Best Regards

Hi @DirtyLilMonkey,

Why did you need to create new TP-Link ID in your iPad which is different than the other you already has and set up on your phone?

I also use my tablet to monitor cameras or play back some recorded footages.

I simply logged in on the tab with the same account already created and used on my phone.

This way It's not necessary to share anything between 2 or more accounts. There is no limitations in camera settings and usage that device sharing can cause...

@ SecCamFan Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay in reply.
I set up this Camera hoping to use it for security of my home whilst away on holiday.
I had expected rather more than the bare set up instructions, but it installed without any problem.
Problems arose when I found that I could not join this community using the ID and password which I used to set up the camera!
That meant I was unable to request help and wisdom from you guys!
Being short on time as I fly tonight, I searched online for a more substantial "Manual" and fortunately (or not) I found a combined one: Tapo App User Guideb For Tapo Indoor/Outdoor Cameras.
Not knowing anything at all, I looked up "Sharing" and read that I must "invoke" an email inviting the other party to accept the "Share".
Initially I inserted my own original set-up I.D., and was quickly told I couldn't send a share effectively to my self, it would need to be to a different "Tapo I.D", hence the additional I.D.!!
That luckily has worked in my favour as the Spoof I.D. was the gateway to the community, and hopefully I can get some reliable advice from other users regarding what is, and what isn't possible to change in order to tailor the installation and App to my requirements.

I am currently in transit, so unlikely to respond in the next 36 hours or so.
Shouldn't be a problem though as I understand that we are not permitted more than one message in 24hrs!
Looking forward to learning more!

Hi @DirtyLilMonkey,

You can change your password anytime in the Tapo app under Me/View account/Change password.

FAQ for device sharing:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2613/

Probably you also found this article.

It mentions the limitations of sharing as well.

"...These accounts can access the Live View, Talk, Voice Call, Pan/Tilt Control, and the SD Card Video features of the camera, but they cannot access the Tapo Care cloud storage or change other settings on the camera..."
