I guess it is my english which is not good enough but I can't understand this..

Whether the camera's detection feature is turned off or privacy mode is enabled, pedestrians on the street within the camera's monitoring range will still wake up the camera via the PIR sensor

and

However, if the detection feature is disabled or privacy mode is enabled, the camera will not detect events or save recordings, which can help save power.

But yes, seems Tapo is not the doorbell I need.

Hi,
The PIR sensor on the Tapo battery-powered camera detects changes in infrared radiation and is primarily used to detect objects with heat signatures, such as humans, animals, or moving vehicles. The PIR sensor consists of a pair of sensors. When an object with heat passes through the sensor's coverage area, the PIR sensor detects the change in heat and generates an electrical signal to wake up the camera.
After the camera is woken up, it utilizes AI detection algorithms to start event detection, generate notifications, and record detection videos.

When the camera's detection feature is turned off or privacy mode is enabled, the PIR sensor continues to work, so pedestrians on the street within the camera's monitoring range will wake up the camera. However, after the camera is woken up, it can't detect events and then record videos because the detection feature is turned off or the privacy mode is enabled.
