TAPO C325WB light control.
TAPO C325WB light control.

Hello. I just bought another C325WB camera but this one has a hardware version v2.
On C325WB with hardware version v1, I can configure video mode with full color and light off.
On 325WB with hardware version v2, this feature is no more available.
How can I configure it to have full color with light always off ?

Hi,
When the Tapo C325WB V1 operates under extremely low-light or completely dark conditions, the live view page of the camera may fail to display a clear image if the spotlight is turned off, potentially resulting in a completely black screen. To ensure a clear live view image, we have optimized the Tapo C325WB V2 by introducing an Infrared mode. When the Infrared mode is selected on the camera's Night Mode Settings page, in overly dark conditions, the camera can automatically switch to Infrared mode to capture clear black-and-white images, preventing the omission of detection events and recordings due to overly dim scenes.
We would like to know more about the lighting conditions and usage scenarios in which you would prefer the Tapo C325WB to display colorful images while keeping the spotlight off. This information will help us provide you with appropriate suggestions and offer feedback to the product design department.

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported case.
1. On the Tapo C325WB V1 and V2's Live View page, please check the video mode you can see and the mode you selected (Auto, Day, or Night mode).
2. On the Tapo app > Camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Night Mode Settings page, please send us the screenshots of this page on the Tapo C325WB V1 and V2.

So please find screenshots.

The use case is the same for all my c325wb.
In full color mode with light off when something is detected it triggers a scenario that turns several tapo p100 during 5 minutes.
External lights are plugged on those tapo p100 and illuminate area where c325wb are located.
So internal light of c325wb are useless.

Hi,
In your usage scenario, selecting the Infrared mode on the Tapo C325WB V2's Night Mode Settings page won't affect the camera's ability to detect events at night, and the action to turn on several Tapo P100s won't be affected. You can try it, and please feel free to reply if you have any questions.

But using infra red mode means true color mode will never used. And I bought the c325wb model for this feature.

Hi,
When the Tapo C325WB V2 selects the Infrared mode, it goes into this mode only when the ambient light is low (below a built-in threshold). When the ambient light is sufficient, the camera will display a colorful image without the spotlight turned on.
Thank you for your feature request to set the camera to full color mode with the spotlight always off, and thank you for describing your usage scenario. I'll log it and forward it to the relevant team for evaluation.

Hello, I have the exact same problem.
I have 6 v1 cameras that have perfect color images in almost dark conditions and the detection is always spot on.
Unfortunately the v2 dispays the black and white images like every other camera at the market.
Great detection both v1 and v2 but the color images in low light of v1 is superior.
I think there should be an (extra) option to choose b&w or color images in low light situations.
The c325wb had no competition in low light scenarios and detection. The v2 just lost the low light advantage. I hope to see a firmware update that fixes that. :)

@Solla-topee Several of us have C325v1 cameras for recording the Aurorae from Northern Scotland and they work REALLY well in full colour night mode. I can send some examples if you are interested. Fortunately I bought 3x v1 cameras and am sad to see the v2 doesn't have the same functionality. I hope this can be restored as an option and updates to v1 don't remove this option. Thanks Gare
