On my Android phone, I looked at my account information today and noticed that the email address I have there is no longer valid. Note: This is not the Google email address that I use to log into the app. I tried to change the email address, but it sends a 2FA code to the non-existent email address. I have 2FA set to send to the app, but that´s not happening. I also cannot find support on the app or the website for this purpose. Can someone explain the purpose / value of having that second email address and how I can get the 2FA code sent to the App instead of to the non-existent email address, so I can change it?

Hi,
Typically, you can only log into a Tapo app with a TP-Link account, and you cannot change the email address of a TP-Link account.

 

If you want to manage your Tapo devices with another TP-Link account (the valid email address), please refer to the following steps.
  1. Log in to the Tapo app with the old TP-Link account (invalid email address), and remove the Tapo device from the Tapo app. Or press the reset button for 10 seconds on the Tapo device to perform a factory reset.


  2. Log out of the Tapo app. Then, refer to the instructions below to register a new TP-Link account with a valid email address.

  3. Log in to the Tapo app with the new TP-Link account.


  4. Reconfigure the Tapo device to bind it to the new TP-Link account, and then manage the device with the new account.
