Please help. My c310 installed . Wireless connection works however i cabled to the camera with Ethernet and has a SD card installed . I just cannot get the ethernet option to work. Always says offline. Could someone advise precisely why this may be the case. I have buzzed out connections end to end. I have made sure the bt smart router has correct settings but maybe missed something . Also sd card did configure and did a firmware update. Its a nuisance as i have to move my router extended to the barn so that the camera will work wirelessly

Hi,
Typically, if the camera is set up successfully through Wi-Fi, when the camera is connected to the router by an Ethernet cable and if the connection is no problem, the wired connection will take effect and the Wi-Fi connection will disconnect.

From your description, it seems the wired connection between the router and the camera is no problem; however, you can only control the camera in the local network rather than remotely.

We need the following information to confirm the phenomenon you encountered.
  1. When the camera is connected to the router by an Ethernet cable, what's the LED status on it?
  2. Please disconnect the Ethernet cable from the camera, connect the camera to the router by Wi-Fi, then check the LED status on the camera. You can then turn off the Wi-Fi on your phone and check if you can control the camera remotely.
  3. What's your camera's MAC address? Please send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if you can control the camera locally only.

Hi,
To minimize interference and confirm the accuracy of the information about your case, please test by strictly following the steps below.

  1. Turn off the Wi-Fi network on your router.
  2. Disconnect the camera from the router if an Ethernet cable is used.
  3. Turn off your router, wait for two minutes, and turn it back on.
  4. Turn off your camera, wait for two minutes, and turn it back on.
  5. Keep the router's Wi-Fi turned off, connect the camera to the router with an Ethernet cable, then test if the camera is online in the Tapo app.

  6. If not, turn on the Wi-Fi on your router, connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi, keep the camera wired to the router, force close the Tapo app, reopen it, and check if you can view or control the camera in the Tapo app.
Please also check the IP address of the camera on your router when the camera is wired to the router, try to ping the camera's IP address on your phone that is connected to the router's Wi-Fi, and check if you can ping successfully.

Best Regards

Hi,
Typically, if the camera works fine when connected to the router's Wi-Fi, the Ethernet connection will take effect after you connect the camera to the router with an Ethernet cable. In your situation, please confirm the following information.

  1. What's the model number of your router? Is the camera connected to the same router's Wi-Fi and Ethernet port?

  2. When the camera is connected to the router's Wi-Fi, please go to the camera's Device Settings > Device Info page to find its IP address. Then, please double-check if you can control the camera remotely.

  3. Please connect the Ethernet cable that goes into the camera to a laptop/PC to check if the wired connection from the router works. If so, check the IP address on the laptop/PC and send it to me.
How to find IP address on your devices

Best Regards

Hi,
1. When your camera is connected to the router's Wi-Fi, please turn off the Wi-Fi on your phone, and then check if you can control the camera remotely.

2. How long is the Ethernet cable between the router and the camera? Please move the camera close to the router, then test if the wired connection works with a different Ethernet cable.

3. If the wired connection is still not working, press and hold the reset button on the camera for 10 seconds to perform a factory reset, then reconfigure it and try again.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee Hi,

before i answer the 3 points i think i need to understand that i am not chasing a fault that doesn't exist and thst i am not missing understanding functionality.

my assumption was with the camera was that i could control i.e see live etc what was happening using a wited ethernet only . That us if i set the camera up using wifi and then removed the wifi then Ethernet would be the wired connection back to the router.?

or do i always need the canera connected to wifi? In other words what is the point of hard wiring. When i look into my router config it says the canera is connected to port one via Ethernet so i know that connection is good. When i connect by wifi ( note i am moving a wifi extender near the camera to get it to work) it works but then when i move the wifi extender back to the house i loose connectivity obviously but i thought Ethernet would have taken over.

answers

cable length 17 metres

when i switch wifi off on my phone i loose control even though ethernet is up.

moving camera bear to house router i get the same condi
