my camera has started misbehaving!

Despite continual notifications, the recordings are sometimes not present or shown on the time line.

the last correctly performing recording was at 08:05:17 this morning.

most notifications after that are variously not shown, shown but no thumbnail, or after a minute or so of the progress gif, Im told the network is unstable!

Some of those above, have been viewed despite them now being absent.

The card is about 50% and set to "Loop" and proclaimed to be "Good"!

Network is rock solid but ant of the 50 or so clips I attempt to view after 08:05:17 are greeted with "Network unstable. Please try again later" if antthing at all!

thishas been the case for more than three hours now and my phone is 10/12 ft from the camera and the router.

WHAT is wrong with it??

Any help appreciated, thanks.

  @DirtyLilMonkey

Hi,
If you experience issues when watching playback videos from an SD card, please refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot.
What should I do if I experience issues when watching playback videos from an SD card?

If you receive detection notifications but no video clips are created, no thumbnail is shown on the playback page, etc., could you please use the Screen Recorder feature on your phone to record a video showing the reported phenomenon, and then send us the video for analysis?
You can upload the video to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

By the way, what's your camera's model number, hardware, and firmware version?

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee Sorry for the lack of response, The camera eventually informed me that the card was "Unusually extended"! or some such form of words!

It seems it is "Full" at 32GB of 64.

I was shocked to find it was a hookey card as it's a SanDisk card purchased from a respectable source, (I can't recall where as it was 7+ years ago) I've used it in a Samsung Galaxy phone for about 7 years where it performed perfectly and had many Video clips, Movies and gazillion pictures, I am surprised that it hadn't encountered this problem before!

A couple of new Sandisk ones ordered direct from SanDisk and just waiting for someone to help me fit one and retrieve the bad one!

Hoping that my PC will be able to read what is on it and mabe reformat it as a 32GB Card!
Having said that, I now understand that if I can give them a decent photo of it, SanDisk may be prepared to replace it with a genuine one!

My camera is a C310 running Firmware 1.4.3 Build 250610 Rel.54956n No idea what you mean by "Hardware" other than C310.

Since I'm unable to record events, I've been trying for a few days now to set up an RTSP Stream to my PC using VLC but it doesn't like any of the passwords that I've used whilst trying to set it up.

I keep seeing a request for "Username and Password which repeatedly pops up having the username prefilled and the password field blank, which seems to indicate to me that it is just the password which is incorrect.

I have absolutely no idea how to find the password that is currently in use allowing me to view the camera in the App. is there some way I can find it out, or must I delete the camera from the phone and totally re-install it?

Hello @DirtyLilMonkey,

You can set/change user and password in device settings/advanced settings/camera account.

In that case of you already configured the camera account, but forgot the details you entered, there is a forgot password link - you will need to enter TP-Link ID and password there to reset camera account.

  @SecCamFan Wow! thanks for that, The original set up was fraught with problemsand despite taking contemporaneous notes, it all got rather fraught!
when I have the time, I think I will need to start again from scratch, as I cannot remember the TP-Link ID but have a faint mnemory I was instructed to use my email address and a password which had to be different from the camera one.

Does that sound feasable?

The "Wow" was because I have finally managed to stream the camera to my PC with VLC, not had a lot of success with VLC recently, I think the tech wizards who maintain the code are having problems with the LUAC files.

Not had full useability for a while, but this renews my faith!

  @DirtyLilMonkey

Hi,
Typically, on the Tapo app > Me page, you can see your TP-Link account. Below are the instructions to change the password of the TP-Link account. However, there is usually no need to change the TP-Link account's password if you still remember it.
What can I do if I forget my password for the cloud account

On the camera's Device Settings > Advanced Settings > Camera Account page, you can find the username and password used to establish the RTSP/Onvif connection.
How to view Tapo camera on PC/NAS/NVR through RTSP/Onvif Protocol

If you have established the RSTP connection between your camera and the VLC app successfully, it means the username and password you entered are correct. In this situation, changing the password in the camera's Device Settings > Camera Account page is not required.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee Thanks for those links.

Regarding "Streaming", the trap which caught me with VLC was that the "Authentication" box which pops up at the final step of the process requiring the password, but for some reason it encloses the pre filled username in square brackets which must be removed for the authentication to be accepted!wink

Thanks again for your help.
