Model: Tapo C220
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.2

Dear Tapo Support Team,

I have recently purchased the Tapo C220 security camera. I am facing the following issues with the device:

1. Auto Day/Night Vision Switch Not Working –
The camera does not automatically switch between day mode and night vision mode. Even in low light conditions, the night vision does not activate, which affects monitoring during nighttime.

2. Poor Video Quality –
The camera’s video output is not clear and the image quality is much lower than expected. Even after adjusting the brightness, contrast, saturation, and sharpness, the video looks blurred and unclear.

Due to these issues, the device is not working as advertised. I kindly request you to:

Provide a solution or firmware update to fix the auto day/night vision switching issue.

Guide me on how to improve the video quality, or replace the device if it is faulty.

3. Camera focus not on main Subject those detect on ai tag or other faces those not detected on tag –

If any subject in the Camera is seen, be it human pet or any other, then a white faded blood like effect remains on its face and noise is also seen. Even on 2k QHD quality the video noise doesn't look clear and sharp Whereas the quality of c211 was very good and fantastic and the night vision was very good which used to auto switch as well, in this camera the quality of night vision is very poor, nothing can be seen

4. Wrong Ai Detection –

Wrong Ai person Detection. C211 Much Better from this C220 Camera.

Hi,
1. From the video you provided, it appears that the camera is not switching to Night Mode at nighttime because there is a lamp illuminated in the upper left corner of the monitoring area. This light prevents the lighting conditions from reaching the threshold required for the camera to switch to Night Mode. If you turn off the lamp, the camera should switch to Night Mode.

2. If the video quality of the camera does not meet your expectations, you can refer to the troubleshooting suggestions in the following thread.
Enhance Video Clarity: Troubleshooting Tips for Improving Camera Video Quality

3. Regarding incorrect AI detection:
  1) Based on the provided screenshots, it seems that the Tapo C220 may incorrectly identify pets as humans and humans as motion events. It's suggested to provide corresponding videos for further analysis.
  2) In the picture "Wrong AI detection pet as Human and Human not in AI tag", the camera did not detect the person, maybe because the person was too far away from the camera and was not moving. If there are other instances where the camera fails to detect a person, please provide relevant videos for analysis.
  3) Vehicle Detection typically refers to detecting four-wheeled cars rather than bicycles or motorcycles.

Best Regards

Re: Issue in Tapo C220 Camera – Auto Day/Night Switch & Poor Video Quality

The side lamp on the camera is switched off during night time like around 9 to 10, but still the night mode doesn't switch on I have to manually turn on night mode and day mode whereas the c211 auto switches to night mode at around 7 pm same place and lamp. I am uploading another footage in which night lamp is off still it does not switch to night mode.  It becomes dark and the subject place is not visible clearly. Night vision is a bit soft and gives less clarity in dark scenes, More noise is generated in low light. In this camera Subject  face white washed, A white shade like glare on the subject's face appears blurry, due to which details (eyes, nose, mouth) become blurred, sometimes the picture appears smooth/blurred. Second Thing When the alarm rings in the Camera, a very loud noise sound comes from it. I have also uploaded the footage of this. You can play it once and see it. It sounds very scary. To be honest, my experience with the c211 camera has been very good, the only drawback was wrong AI detection alarm.

  @AVNISH

Hi,
1. I didn't find the video showing that the lamp is turned off, but the camera does not switch to Night mode. Could you please provide me with the name of the corresponding video?

2. On the camera's Device Settings > Alarm page, please check if the Sound Type option is available. If so, you can adjust the alarm sound volume on this page. If the Sound Type option is not available, you can try setting a lower Speaker volume on the camera's Live View > Talk page by tapping the icon at the top right corner of the Talk page.

Best Regards

Hi sent you a video, the ONLY way for me to get the display to work correctly is with a reboot.

Dave.
