I’m using a Tapo C222 camera with the latest firmware and app version. The camera speaker volume is extremely low when using the “Call” mode in the Tapo app — it’s almost impossible to hear anything from the camera side.

However, when I use the “Mic Hold to Talk” feature, the audio from the camera is loud and clear. This confirms the camera speaker is working properly, and the issue is limited to the “Call” mode.

I also tested with a wired headset and spoke closely into the mic, but the output from the camera remained very low in “Call” mode.

Hi,
The Call feature on the Tapo Camera utilizes echo cancellation technology, which prevents sound from the camera's speaker from being picked up by its microphone, and vice versa. As a result, the sound output during a Call is generally quieter compared to when using the Talk feature. Usually, when you use the Tapo C222 indoors, the sound from the Call feature is sufficient.

In your situation, please confirm the following information for further analysis.
  1. Is the Tapo C222 installed indoors?
  2. After you tap the Talk icon on the camera's Live View page, please tap the icon at the top right corner of the Talk page, then set the microphone and speaker volume higher, and test if this helps.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

the camera is installed indoors

volume set to max on both speaker and mic

i can barely hear the sound!

i have tested it myself from different distances even from different country my family can't hear me

it is very frustrating as the push and hold talk feature is very restricting when doing a conversation
