Tapo C100 - lost control after changing phones
I have 2 Tapo C100's that I bought about 5 months ago. They set up without problems initially, they were connected to a HiTron CODA-5810 (1B) access point supplied by Rogers.
I got a new iPhone (Model 11, used, new to me) last week. I successfully transferred all my apps including Tapo to the new phone. For most apps, all I had to do was re-login to get the app to work as before. However, Tapo has lost communication with my 2 cameras and I have not been able to re-establish it. Even resetting the cameras, deleting the Tapo app and then doing a full re-install has not worked.
I can see the cameras in setup. I can change to the Tapo camera's own wi-fi address and the camera gets found. But when I try to connect it to the office wi-fi, it tells me there are no 2.4GHz networks available. This makes no sense. I am typing this note on a laptop connected to the office 2.4GHZ network. I have followed all the online instructions about separating the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. I have renamed the 2.4Ghz network and set it to a single channel. I have turned off the 5Ghz network.
I have also tried the suggestion of using a phone hotspot to do the connections. I get the exact same error at the same point in Setup - no 2.4 networks available even though the hotspot is working fine at 2.4 Ghz and other devices can connect to it.
Now I have even gone back to my old iPhone 8 which I originally set the cameras up with. I had not erased that phone so all the apps were still there. Now this old phone gives me the same problem. The old phone is working fine when connected to the 2.4 Ghz network. All apps except Tapo still work.
I am now out of ideas. If there is a newer firmware version for the camera, how can I install it if I cannot get Tapo to communicate with the cameras?
Any suggestions gratefully received. Our office security system is down and I have 2 Tapo paperweights at the moment. Frustrating as heck.
