Dear Tapo Support Team,

I am writing to report a serious issue with my Tapo security camera. The device frequently disconnects from the network without any clear reason, and once it disconnects, it often becomes completely unresponsive.

Here are the detailed symptoms:

  1. The camera suddenly goes offline, showing “device unreachable.”
  2. Restarting the camera or the router usually does not help.
  3. Sometimes, after many attempts (over 1–2 hours), it reconnects by luck.
  4. The “Reset” button also does not fix the issue — it either does not reset properly or still fails to reconnect afterward.
  5. During rainy or humid weather, the camera becomes even less responsive.
  6. Even when online, it often fails to detect Motion or Person activity — there is no alert or recording triggered.

Please advise what can be done to resolve this issue.

  • Is there any firmware update or manual reset method that might solve it?
  • Could this be a hardware issue requiring replacement?

Model: Tapo C410 (Solar version)

Network: Stable Wi-Fi 2.4GHz

Location: Outdoor

Thank you for your attention and I look forward to your assistance.

Best regards,

  @zhuang

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported phenomenon.

  1. When the camera is working, please go to its Device Settings > Device Info page, tap the Wi-Fi icon, and check the RSSI value. If the RSSI is less than -60dBm, please move the camera closer to the router and check if it works better.

  2. How often does the offline phenomenon occur?

  3. When the camera is online, you can remove it from the Tapo app to factory reset it. Then, try to reconfigure the camera in the Tapo app when it has a flashing red and green light, and check if it works.

  4. If the camera's detection feature is not working, please refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot.
What to do if the Detection feature is not working on the TP-Link Camera?

Best Regards
