Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.16 build 241022

I have an issue with one of my C200 cameras after doing a factory reset. It will not allow me to view and control it outside of my home network.

After googling the issue and finding this old thread on this site and the issue still persisting, I felt like I needed to make a new thread.

None of my other cameras has this issue after a reset. My home network is set up just fine and changing the DNS does nothing, again no issues with the other cameras. I have a wifi extender, but the issue persists even with it offline. The camera is literally 15 feet away from the wifi router with clear line of sight, having full signal and no packet loss. The camera has worked with no issues up until factory resetting and subsequent readding it in the Tapo app. Camera settings in the app are identical to what they have always been. I have tried a reset 3 times now, going through each step carefully.

Does anyone have an actual solution here? The above linked thread doesn't show a solution, only a repeated copy-paste answer.

Hi,
Please confirm the following information about the reported phenomenon.

  1. After you factory reset the camera and reconfigure it, is it bound to a new TP-Link account?
  2. What's the model number of your router? Please disable Firewall rules, Access Control, and Parental Control entries on your home router if there is one, then reboot the router, and check if the camera can be controlled remotely.
  3. You can enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, factory reset the camera, configure it with another phone, connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi, and then check if you can control it remotely.
  4. What's the MAC address of your camera? Please send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

Best Regards

Hi, sorry for the late response! (I have been away)

To answer your questions:

1. The only thing I have done is add a camera account (user/password) per camera. I am however adding the camera on my home network using the Tapo app, that is logged in to my one and only TP-Link account.

2. I have a TP-Link AX1500 router, and firewall, AC and PC are none-issues. I don't use the latter, and firewall has no rules to block any of my cameras (otherwise none of them would work)

3. Tried this today, the problem remains the same.

4. Check your private messages :-)

I have directly compared all of the camera settings in the app, to the other cameras. Everything is identical where it can be.

Regards,

Z

Hi,
In your situation, it may be that the camera has an issue. You can contact your retailer or the local support team to check if the camera is under warranty.

Best Regards
