I've just purchased the BE25x3 to replace some older deco units, I want to use the units in router mode so that I can install a wireguard VPN directly and provide coverage across my home. I have Sky full fibre which requires me to connect the ONT to the home hub and then the home hub to the main deco. All of the units are hardwired.

 

I have set the units up in router mode and it drastically throttles the speed (this is before the VPN), I have checked a few things online and I don't believe that I have any of the features enabled that would do this - QOS for example. I've also logged into the Sky home hub and configured the DMZ settings, this hasn't improved the speed. I've removed all configuration now so it's back to a vanilla router mode setup.

 

I have Sky full fibre 500 and in access point mode I receive 400-450 speeds wirelessly, in router mode I recieve 80-120.

Thanks, I've tried those and still the same. I should have added - the main deco is connected to a TL-SG116 switch - I'm not sure if that makes any difference?

Firstly, your switch should be after the first main Deco, not before it. As you have your modem in bridge mode, the first Deco is your main and DHCP server, the switch must be after this one.

 

Also there is newer early release firmware which is available for you model and resolves some critical bugs, link below for the firmware.

Hi, are you still having issues with the network speed on the Deco BE25 when it is in wireless router mode?

Have you tried to remove the Sky hub and connect the main Deco BE25 directly to the ONT box?
