Add automation action to smart doorbell

Model: Tapo D230S1
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0

I have a Tapo D230S1 doorbell and several Tapo cameras. One of my cameras covers part of the area covered by the D230S1 and I would like to be able to set up an automation to trigger a recording on the D230S1 when the other cameras (a C510W) detects a person.

I've tried to set this up in the Tapo app but I have found that the only action available is to enable or disable Privacy mode.

Is there anyway to trigger recording on the D230S1 from another cameras?

Hi,
Currently, the Tapo D230 does not support triggering recording from another camera's detected events.

Why do you want the D230 to record when the C510W detects a person? Can't the D230 detect the person? If you just want the video recordings showing the detected person, you can also set the Tapo C510W to store detection video clips.

Best Regards

This automation ability would be useful for all cameras, i.e. an automation action to trigger a camera (D230 or C420 for example) to record for a period of time (or even for it's default settings). When there is an intruder on the property there is likely to be other persons/activity to be recorded which may be outside detection zones but in view of other cameras.

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback here. While we don't have specific details on whether this feature can be added to the product or when it might be, I'll log the feature request and pass it along to the relevant team for evaluation.
Best Regards
