Model: Tapo C425 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.2

I installed a C425 camera yesterday and it was working perfectly.

During the night, the camera performed an automatic firmware update and after that it completely stopped working.

Now it only shows a red LED blinking twice, does not connect to the app, and does not respond to any commands.

I have already tried:

  • Physical reset (multiple times, following the correct procedure 10s)

Nothing worked.

I am absolutely certain the issue was caused by the automatic firmware update, which appears to have corrupted the firmware. The camera has less than 24 hours of use.

Important note:

This camera was purchased while traveling, so returning or exchanging it is not an option. I really need a technical solution to try to recover it.

Questions for anyone familiar with this model:

  • Does the 2 red LED blink pattern indicate a firmware or boot error?
  • Is there any way to manually reinstall the firmware, for example via microSD, recovery mode, or another method?
  • Are there any official or unofficial procedures to try to “unbrick” the camera?

⚠️ Warning to others:

I strongly recommend disabling automatic updates, as in my case the update turned a brand-new camera into a brick.

Any technical guidance would be greatly appreciated.
