How to access Tapo C501GW LTE feed remotely without the Tapo app?

Model: Tapo C501GW

Firmware Version:

I’m currently using a TP-Link Tapo C501GW with an LTE connection, and I understand that live viewing is primarily designed to work through the Tapo app. I wanted to ask if there’s any way to access or stream the camera’s live feed via RTSP for a monitoring project instead of the mobile app.

From what I know, the LTE connection places the device behind CGNAT, which makes direct inbound access difficult or even impossible. That said, I’m wondering if there are alternative approaches I might have missed. From my understanding, the flow of feed is: C501GW -> ISP -> TPLink Server -> Tapo App. So is it really technically unfeasible to RTSP to the feed?

Additionally, the data sheet says it supports RTSP, but how exactly? Is it also through ethernet like ONVIF?

RTSP Yes
ONVIF YES (Only Available in Ethernet Mode)

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
When the Tapo C501GW is using an LTE connection and behind CGNAT(the camera has a private IP address from the ISP), it's unable to stream the camera via RTSP.

When the camera is connected to a router via an Ethernet cable to access the internet, you can refer to the instructions below to stream the camera via RTSP/ONVIF.

How to View Tapo Camera on PC, NAS, or NVR Using RTSP/ONVIF

Best Regards
