Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.7

Hello,

this camera detects and records events even when the movement occurs outside the defined area.

It doesn't matter whether it's set for all events or for individual ones.

To clarify: This camera is normally in sleep mode. I understand that for the motion detector (PIR), there is no way to set a zone, so the camera wakes up upon any movement.

Why, then, does it record and save the movement, or send a notification to the app, if the movement is outside the designated area? It should work such that the camera wakes up, detects that the movement is outside the zone, and then refrains from saving anything or notifying the app.

Thank you,

Pavel

Please check if there is any noticeable activity in the video — for example, light changes, shadows moving, or an animal passing by? Those are the factors that might trigger camera detection. For similar false detection issue, you can find more suggestions here: What should I do if my Tapo camera triggers false detection?

With detection tags turned on, the camera marks every detected target (e.g., person, vehicle) in the entire frame, even if they’re outside your set detection zone. This means the tags you see outside the zone should not be causing the problem.
