Model: Tapo C230
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.2

The Problem

My Tapo C230 has a persistent issue with live view freezing. After a reboot, the live stream works perfectly for approximately 2-3 minutes, then freezes completely and shows "loading forever." The camera does not disconnect from Wi-Fi - I can still send a reboot command remotely. Rebooting gives me another 2-3 minutes of working live view, then the cycle repeats.

What I Have Tried (Without Success)

Action Result
Verified Wi-Fi signal (RSSI -39 dBm) Excellent signal, not the issue
Changed from Continuous Recording to Event Recording Still freezes
Formatted SD card inside Tapo app Works for ~15 minutes, then freezes again
Confirmed firmware is up to date No change

My Setup

Component Details
Camera Tapo C230
Router Huawei B315 (2.4GHz only)
SD Card ADATA High Endurance 128GB (V30, U3, Class 10, A2)

What I Have Observed

  1. The camera records fine - Playback of recorded videos works perfectly after reboot

  2. Cloud trial worked perfectly - During the 30-day Tapo Care trial, there were no freezes

  3. The freezing is time-based - Almost exactly 2-3 minutes after reboot, live view dies

  4. Formatting helps temporarily - After formatting the SD card, the camera works for ~15 minutes before freezing again

  5. Less data on card = longer working time - When the card has less data, it works longer before freezing

  1. Has anyone else experienced this exact issue with the C230?

  2. Is this a known firmware bug with continuous recording?

  @koi98

Hi,
You can refer to Case 3 in the below instructions to troubleshoot.
Cannot view Tapo/Kasa Camera

If the problem remains, please confirm:
1. The LED status on the camera.
2. Do you watch the camera's live view on the local or remote network?
3. Do you have the same issue when watching recorded videos?
If you need urgent assistance, I recommend contacting the support team directly, as they can provide faster and better service

Best Regards
