Hello,
 

I’m experiencing an issue with my Tapo C520WS camera where the spotlight does not turn on at night when Smart Mode is enabled. It used to work just fine.


There is no ambient light around the camera, so it appears to be a software or firmware-related issue rather than a lighting/environment issue.

Hello,

Typically, when Smart Mode is selected on the Night Mode Settings page, when the camera goes into Night mode, it turns on the spotlight when detecting events. 

If you want the camera to operate in Day Mode during the day and automatically switch to Night Mode at night, illuminating its spotlight upon detecting events, then set the video mode on the Live View page to Auto and select Smart Mode on the Night Mode Settings page. 

 

If you currently find that the camera does not turn on the spot light after detecting motion at night, please first check whether the camera has switched to night mode. You can verify this by opening the camera’s live view. If it is confirmed that night mode is enabled and the camera is operating in infrared mode, please provide a video for us to analyze.

I think the night mode settings is pretty self-explanatory. And yes, I forgot to mention but it does not light up even when detecting events.
