Things You May Want To Know

1. Is Smart Action 2.0 available for Kasa devices?

Yes! In addition to the skills supported in the Kasa App itself, syncing your Kasa device to the Tapo App will give you the ability to turn on additional skill permissions for your Kasa device!

2. When will the Smart Action 2.0 be officially released?

Smart Action 2.0 will probably be available to everyone between Q1 to Q2 of 2024, so stay tuned! Keep posted by subscribing to this article, or pay attention to the release note of the new App version.

3. Why can't I manage my automation or shortcut rules suddenly?

Smart Action 2.0 feature is available in the testing version 3.2.204(Android) and 3.2.206 (iOS) only. The smart action rules created or saved through the testing version cannot be edited on other App versions. But they're still visible and take effect.

If you have enabled the App auto-update, the new version is likely to overwrite the testing version.

Smart Action 2.0 trial test has ended now. Stay tuned to the official release!

I like this thread and will hopefully here get an info, when Smart Action 2.0 will be available for public.

But what for are all these useless posts, which pop up here from time to time, like the last ones? Is it to have a chance to keep email-notifications for a reply here in this thread active?

【Trial】Smart Action 2.0: Unlock Next-Level Smart Home Automation - Smart Home Community (tp-link.com)

Is there any real timescale other than the next 5 months? I've got new items ready to connect  but I have to either delete automations and create them again or return smart devices and switch to  other suppliers.

Very disappointing.

I was looking for a new alarm system for my house and bought the tapo motion sensors together with the hub for that - believing that the alarm system could effortlessly be switched on when leaving and off when getting home. And that there would be a chance to get just a notification (a silent alarm) when someone enters the house illegally. As long as I'm home I don't need any notifications from the motion sensors (I even would have liked them to be in a kind of 'shutdown mode' to save battery power). But as I understand now, that all seems only to be possible - if at all - with Smart Actions 2.0. So the equipment is of no use so far and if Smart Actiosn 2.0 in not released soon, I also will switch to other suppliers.

So Tapo move on - you have some way to go!

Is there any ETA for the sensor notification action?

If we cannot enable/disable notification on sensors with one simple automation, the whole system as an alarm is quite useless. I have 10 sensors and it is not feasible to enable disable the notification for each one of them separately every time I want to enable/disable the alarm.

Hi @ThomasZ

The way that the Tapo app allows you to group lightbulbs would be perfect for sensors also. You can refer to the group to set the on/off state, along with colours and dimming - essential if you have Tapo ceiling lights for instance. You can still refer to an individual bulb as well though, if you need to. Making that functionality available for sensors would achieve what you need, with the ability to have one action to sound the alarm from any sensor and the ability to disarm all sensors with one click.

I'm not sure if anyone from TP-Link is watching this thread though. I'm still waiting on a response to my comment about webhooks...  @Wayne-TP ?

is there any way to check how often tapo releases a new app version?

any other news about smart actions 2.0? this q1 to q2 is killing me, cant wait til June

Is there any update regarding the date when Smart Action 2.0 will be available?

I'm facing same issue here.

First I tried to have some answer to my feedback when I was testing beta version, without luck... And now, beta period is over, I have to switch back on normal app (that doesn't include feature allows to use sensors as an alarm)...

Very very annoying.

Guys from TP Link, please communicate better and accelerate this new release.

@Milkfish They said some day between q1-q2 2024... I wiish they say something more accurate...
