I am trying to use a T315 and a P110 to control a heating system.

The idea is when the temperature reported by the T315 is under 19º the P110 should be turned On.

And when the temperature goes over 20º the P110 should be turned on.

The idea is simple.

I have made all the smart actions needed and a button to enable the smart actions (automatism).

When I run the button that enables the automatism (being 17º in the T315 and staying Off the P110), the P110 remain turned off.

But the rule says "If T315 is under 18º the P110 should be turned ON".

The real thing is that only works the rule if the temperature cross the 18º level.

So if the temperature of the room is 19º and drops to 18º and then drops to 17º, the rule is applyed and the P100 is turned on.

But if the initial temperature is under the limit of 18º, the rule never applies.

The real meaning of the condition is not "if the temperature in under 18º", the real thing is "If the temperature drops from 18º to 17º..."

This makes very poor useful the smart actions.

Somebody does it know how launch a P110 turns ON when the temperature is under 18º (not when the temperature drops from 18º to 17º)?

Is totally diferent that launch a P110 when the temperature is in one state (under 18º)

that when the temperature drops from 18º to 17º, wich make in fact unuseful the smart actions.

Could somebody give to some help, idea or I have to ask for a new feature?

Manuel (Domoter)

 Hello @Domoter

Thank you for reaching out to the community.

For  "If T315 is under 18º, the P110 should be turned ON".

As of my understanding, this smart action rule should take effect when the detected temperature drops from 18°C to 17°C.

Do you wish to always keep the plugs on when the T315 is below 18°C?

Hi Solla-topee Yes. I think that when I enable the smart action that says "if the T315 is under 18º, the P110 should be turned ON", and the T315 is in 17º (for example) the P110 should be turned ON. If only works when the temperature crosses the border from 18º to 17º and the temperature is currently 17º probably is not going to work never. So, at the time the smart action is enabled, the condition should be evaluated and the action should be trrigered to make the smart actions useful. Could you help on this as a new behavior of the "enable" smarta action? Manuel (Domoter)

@Domoter Hello, i have a T310 and P100 trying to do the same with heating system.

Facing the same problem i think. Automatism not working when i set a temperature to turn on :(

  @Santimandu @Domoter

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback and the usage scenario described here, we certainly appreciate your feedback and feature request.
While we don't have any specific details that I can share about if this feature can come to the product or when it might, I'll log the feature request and pass it along to the team to evaluate.
I moved this conversation into the ‘Feature Request (Tapo)' area for better visibility, and if other users have the same request, please vote on this post.

@Domoter I have the same issue, contacted the live agent and then received an email from from Tapo Tp-link saying this will be addressed in the next app update, feel like I've wasted my money on this.

@Domoter I have the same problem set the heating to automation when temperature is under 20 turn ON, but nothing happens when it is already under so not crossed the threshold.I have the time period from 8 to 19 oclock. Guys from TPlink, this is of no use automation. It must check the level of temperature not just crossing the treshold.

Please make it work.

Thank you,

Martin

@Domoter I see 7 replies but only one vote!   Well here's another vote from me.

Please, please, please pretty please TAPO make this a feature.  I bought a T310 (no display) and have the same issue trying to control a P100 (no power monitoring).  I didn't check the function details before buying the T310 as the adverts say you can control a heater so I assumed such a simple feature was already available.

I am running a pond pump on a timed schedule during the day but, I want it to stay on overnight if the temperature falls below a setpoint.  So simple!  But if the temperature is already below the setpoint when the OFF time comes, there is no trigger to turn it ON again unless the temperature goes up and down past the setpoint.  To make it work automatically I'd have to trigger a heater to warm up the T310 before monitoring begins overnight, which is ridiculous.

I'd be happy with a temperature trigger at a set time, ie At set time, if temp<setpoint then turn something ON.  Or, even better, allow general AND type logic triggers as well as OR so we could construct the logic ourselves, ie IF Trigger1= set time, AND Trigger2=temp<setpoint THEN ...

I agree with the feature request. 'Crossing the threshold' is not the same as 'above' or 'below' the threshold.

Crossing the threshold only has limited value.

  @Domoter

As a workaround you could create a shortcut including a plug turn on action and two automations: one for turning off when the temperature rises above a specific temperature and one for turning on the plug below this temperature.

Please note that this will work as expected only if you activate the shortcut when the temperature is below the threshold! In order to avoid overheating in case the shortcut is enabled when the temperature is high you could add two more automations: one to turn off the plug at few degrees higher than the threshold and one to turn it off at an even higher temperature.
