Tapo Smart Automations and Shortcuts are Unreliable
Since switching internet service provider the remote operation of my Tapo P110M plugs and Kasa KL60 bulbs has been unreliable. The automations and shortcuts include multiple devices switching on/off at the same time but some or all of these actions will fail. Also, when away from home the Tapo app on my mobile phone will often show that random devices are offline for brief periods.
I continue to use the same 2.4GHz wireless access point, so the SSID, RF channel number and RSSI values are unchanged. The new FTTP service is on F&W Networks and uses a Adtran 814-v6 gateway which is connected by Ethernet cable to my wireless access point. The Adtran’s WiFi is disabled. The new ISP changed my service from CG-NAT to a dynamic IP address, but that has made no difference. I have other smart plugs, thermostats, cameras, media streaming hubs and speakers in the home and these all continue to operate through the new gateway without issue.
For the time being I still have access to my old FTTC service using a TalkTalk gateway. Switching my 2.4GHz WiFi connection back to this gateway gives me 100% reliability. But this service will be disconnected soon, so desperately trying to find a solution to the unreliable connections.
Due to using the same WAP with both ISPs I’m convinced that the issue is not WiFi related and is some sort of routing or communication issue between the new gateway and the TP-Link cloud. Are there any services or ports that I should manually enable on the new gateway?
