My smartphone is not able to connect to the Tapo_Cam_XXXX SSID which is first step I believe to be able to configure the camera.

 

I have installed the Tapo software but when I then try to add a device, it requires the connection to this Tapo_Cam_XXXX network. I have tried both on iphone and android device. They can see the SSID listed but when trying to connect, it drops immediately again.

I am able to connect it to the SSID with my PC but believe there is no PC client to do the initial setup.

 

Any thoughts?

What's the hardware version of your Tapo C100? Check if you're this case: Fail to configure the camera on an iPhone with prompts Unable to join the network "Tapo_Cam_XXXX"

 

On the Android phone, try to delete/forget your home WiFi (and other available WiFi if any), make sure there are no saved or switchable Wi-Fi networks in your phone's Wi-Fi settings. Then try to connect to the camera WiFi again.
