Model: Tapo C510W
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.1

Hi,

A problem occurred with my two Tapo cameras following the latest firmware update (v 1.3.1 - build 241111 - rel 29618n) earlier this week. The cameras now record only 15-20 seconds of activity when triggered and fail to record until the end.

There isn't the same problem with a third Tapo camera, which I haven't updated the new firmware onto and remains on (v 1.3.1 - build 240820 - rel 71705n).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Alf

I also can relate this problem.

My outside camera auto-update on december 26th, between 3h and 5h AM .
The update appeared at this moment.

Before this update, when a motion was detected, the camera recorded for about a minute and a half each time.
Since the update, the camera only records an average of 20sec even if motions continue. This has for effects to have cuts during the recording and not all the motion are tracked. I tried to update the sensibility of the motion but it did not help.
I also tried to factory reset the camera and the SD card by formatting the SD card and press the reset button but it also did not help.

I actually have 4 cameras, and the 4 cameras has the same problems. Since the update it did not record more than 20 sec on an average.

What will you need to help fix this issue ?

Personnaly I have the EU V1 C510W, with FW 1.3.1 build 241111 Rel 29618n

Hi, and thank you for your reply, which has reassured me that it is a problem with the latest firmware update. I hope my posts reassure you.

I have tried everything to correct the latest firmware issue. Before posting on this site yesterday and receiving your reply, I had tried to send the camera back to how it was before the update. I spent yesterday taking one off the wall and trying to reset it to factory settings. Nothing worked, unfortunately.

But at least you know it is the latest update, not your system.

Let's hope the problem is resolved.

Alf.

@Alf-63. Thanks too for your concern. Indeed I am also reassure to now that I am not the only one facing this issue. I also came here to post the issue in hoping someone can help or fix this fastly. otherwise the camera became useless. Unfortunately reseting the camera is not enough. If you want to fix this issue, I think the only solution is to downgrade the firmware that was installed. Reseting do not remove the firmware. You have to downgrade id manually. I think it will solve the problem temporally. I am not able to do it at the moment (not enough time, and I have to disconnect all the camera from the walls etc). hope a fix will be release soon. otherwise I will have to take the ladder out D: and downgrade them all .... what a pain v_v'

Hi,

I hope and expect an fix will come along soon.

Taking the camera down and resetting didn't work for me; neither did formatting the memory disk. My advice would be to bide your time before getting your ladders out. Tapo might put it right during/after the holidays. I wouldn't know how to go back to the previous firmware (I thought a factory reset would do this).

Did you know you can have the camera on record all the time until the problem is rectified?
