@Jerryb

oddly, ive not installed the beta firmware, but ive not had the issue (cross fingers)

what i did was use a wifi analyzer and switch to a network that had less likelihood of overlap with nearby houses

im not exactly sure what could be happening as to cause the issue though as overlap shouldnt be preventing my device from still seeing the signal.  even if another signal is stronger, it should (i would think) know the SSID and still connect to that one and not have an issue in doing so just b/c a stronger signal is available from another device it doesn't know.

@ionizer5  is your issue still the same (2.4 network disappearing from the admin pages)?  Mine did that when it dropped the 2.4ghz network.  The beta firmware fixed this.

Or is it something else?

@Jerryb - Thanks for the update that the beta firmware seems to be a stable solution over time.  Your vote of confidence has talked me down off the ledge a bit, and I've installed the beta.   I'll post an update in a week if it's solved the problem for me as well, or sooner if it hasn't! :-)

@tarund - Thanks for posting that beta firmware!

@Jerryb that is my issue, but it hasn't happened in about 3 weeks now, crossing fingers?

@Jerryb

I'm having the opposite problem, the 2.4GHz channel is stable and reliable but the 5GHz-1 channel keeps dropping out and I can't connect to it no matter what I try (until rebooted).

Any idea when this beta firmware is likely to become live firmware? I'm a bit reluctant to flash the beta firmware on an (almost) brand new device.

edit: I'm also seeing the 2.4GHz channel disconnect randomly for a few seconds then reconnect. At least it does actually reconnect. However, this is unacceptable since it's disconnecting me from games and reseting downloads.

@Jerryb I of course spoke a bit too soon.  yesterday my 2.4ghz was not available/no internet.  however, this time it seems like it was connecting back after a few seconds.

I would like to be added to the list of this problem. I have managed to make it daily or bi-daily stable with shipped firmware with the following. However now, rather than drop the 2.4 band, I get the router not acknowledging the WAN port (Internet) and random TCP blocks across my network. So after about 30 hours everything was still visible and connected, but nothing could talk to each other and the WAN port was marked as not connected (though direction connection and status lights said otherwise)

I think this product is far from complete, out of interest, what are peoples hardware and firmware revisions ?

My device

Firmware Version: 1.0.5 Build 20200216 rel.72186(4555)

Hardware Version: Archer AX11000 v1.0

@DeanMK have you tried to beta firmware?  Also,  first level tech support isn't much help, but if you get 2nd level you go straight to an engineer.

As promised, an update:

I've taken the belt-and-suspenders approach and gotten the router working very well for the workload we throw at it.

1. I installed the beta firmware

2. I set the router to automatically reboot each morning at 4am. All nighttime backup-to-NAS tasks easily complete before this time.

3. I created 3 separate networks:

(1) 2.4GHZ 802.11B/G/N only, for our older stuff with compatibility issues (like apple homekit plugs), as well as phones (because none of these things access data any faster than my cheap-ass 50Mbps internet connection can provide it)

(2) 5GHZ 802.11AC only, for our printer, because it wouldn't reliably connect to a 2.4GHZ network or a 5GHZ network with AX enabled

(3) 5GHZ 802.11AX only, for our 3 computers, which benefit from a fast connection to our NAS drive.

It seems to be rock solid. There's only been one time this week when a web page was slow to load on my phone, and it loaded after disconnecting from the wifi.  So that could be my internet service acting up.  I've never had any hiccups with any of the computers, printer, NAS or homekit devices.

I'll probably leave it like this because it serves our needs well. Further tweaking might lead to more success in taking advantage of the router's features, but it wouldn't provide a material benefit to our household.

@shaywood Speaking to them now. Not installed the beta as I think from reading this, it has the same problems. The settings I posted do seem to work for me, but smart connect is a feature this has that SHOULD work along with auto assignment of channel and bandwidth.

Will see what engineers say. If there were an alternative with better reviews, I would have purchased that already and returned this :)
