Hello!

For the AC5400 -C5400X- router; for WAN aggregation, the user guide (4.6) says:

WAN Aggregation transforms the LAN1 port to an additional WAN port, and makes a single high-bandwidth data path.

If anyone has this router, would you be kind enough to test if turning on WAN aggregation in the settings (Advanced/Network/Internet, go to the bottom), then move the ethernet cable from the main WAN port to the LAN 1 port, that you still have an internet connection? iow- the main WAN port is empty, and only the LAN 1 port has the ethernet cable. When I do that, the center light is RED - no internet access. To me, that indicates that the LAN 1 port is not acting like a WAN port. In addition, when connecting 2 feeds, one into the WAN port, and another into the LAN 1 port, speed does not increase. Plus, since the LAN 1 port doesn't seem to have internet access, there is no fail over support if the main WAN port has some trouble (like a power failure on that feed).

I suspect my router is having problems, and TP_LINK support doesn't seem to understand.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Keith

@carlospg

Thanks for your reply. I have since discovered that TP-Link has it's own narrow specialized definition of wan aggregation, not what others generally understand what wan aggregation is. TP-Link is very misleading. Lan-1 works only as as a supplement to the main WAN if you have a special modem that has 2 ports, and NEEDS the wan port to be active. LAN-1 does not work as an independent WAN port at all. I propose anyone who wants true wan aggreegation look for another router. I wasted way too much time with this router. Even one reply from a tp-link support person said lan-1 would work as an independent wan port when the main wan port was disconnected (and support fail over)   ---  I found it does not.

@carlospg

this may help, but am not 100% sure.

one person said he added a usb internet connection with the normal wan.

the specs say 'dual wan.'

Q: One review said this ax6100 rt-ax92u has dual wan: (wan + lan 1, or wan + usb). is this true??? thanks
A: yes, i used dual wan mode. it can work main Wan + usb lte modem

if you try this out, please reply and me know the results. thanks.

sounds promising.

also seems like a very good router.
