X20 Deco Speed Question
I'm setting up a Deco X20 network, and I have many questions, but just one per thread...
I've got two nodes set up and running. The main node is in Access Point mode because my cable modem takes care of DHCP and other services.
I still have my old network set up, both as a basis for comparison and to use until the Deco is ready.
The old wireless network is a single TP-Link ARCHER-C7 v2.
For some reason, the old Archer network reads as almost 2 times faster on download than the new Deco. The main Deco is on the second floor next to the Archer. The second is in the living room, adjacent to where I am, on the first floor.
According to Speedtest by Oookla, the Deco, on the 5Ghz network shows:
14 ms ping, download 211Mbps, upload 22.6Mps
The Archer-C7 network at 5Ghz shows:
11 ms ping, download 413Mbps, upload 22.2Mps
I've run the test several times, and the results are consistant.
Environment: MacOS 12.5, MacBook Pro M1
Here's what the Mac's network info shows:
Archer-C7:
IP Address: 192.168.0.3
Router: 192.168.0.1
Security: WPA2 Personal
BSSID:84:16:f9:cb:7b:c7
Channel: 149 (5 GHz, 80 MHz)
Country Code: US
RSSI: -63 dBm
Noise: -91 dBm
Tx Rate: 650 Mbps
PHY Mode: 802.11ac
MCS Index: 8
NSS: 2
Deco:
IP Address: 192.168.0.3
Router: 192.168.0.1
Security: WPA2 Personal
BSSID: 54:af:97:0d:96:27
Channel: 40 (5 GHz, 80 MHz)
Country Code: US
RSSI: -53 dBm
Noise: -89 dBm
Tx Rate: 680 Mbps
PHY Mode: 802.11ax
MCS Index: 8
NSS: 2
Do any of the assembled wizards have any ideas why there's this discrepancy? Even better, any ideas on how to fix it?
Let me know if there's any other info I can gather that would help.
Thanks!
