Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Archer A8(US)_V1_1.12.0 Build 221010

Hello TP-Link,

I have updated the latest firmware through TP link application and I have "Too Many Reqeusts" errors for various web sites such as Expedia, Hotels, Alltrals. etc.

Here are the symptoms.

1. Iphone applications such as Expedia, Hotels, AllTrals complained "Too Many Requests" and are not up and running.

2. Accessing those web sites from the desktop(Chrome, Edge), the web sites asked me to verify that I am not a bot. So every time I need to verify I am a human.

3. No problem with T-mobile 4G connection, Iphone applications and web sites are working fine

4. Old version of firmware was working fine and I can't flash the old firmware back. Firmware flashing failed

This is very inconvenience. Please help me

Thanks,

  @Zzingoh

What firmware version are you running exactly?  Also can you share your router's logs when this concern happens?

  @Carl

Thank you for your reply.

I think I already added the version but here you go

Firmware Version:

1.12.0 Build 221010 Rel.35508n(5553)

Hardware Version:

Archer A8 1.0

Also please find the system log attached. Somehow there were no logs captured when this error happened so I am attaching the existing logs.

Please let me know how to go back to previous firmware version. It failed for me with local firmware upgrade

Thanks,

Tommy

  @Liverpool20 and @Carl

Here are more test results.

1. Current FW information with the problem and the log attached

Firmware Version:

1.12.0 Build 221010 Rel.35508n(5553)

Hardware Version:

Archer A8 1.0

2. Early FW build 1.12.1 still has the problem

So I would like to downgrade the firmware to previous version Archer A8(US)_V1_1.11.30 Build 220624

Please help how to do. I tried but failed

Thanks,

Tommy

  @Carl

Would you please let me know how to downgrade the firmware? Looks like degradation is not allowed due to version check?

I am seeing so many errors due to "Too Many Requests". Various my sites are thinking accessing to their links thinks a bot or virus attacks.

1. some of sites(hotels, Expedia, AllTrails) are asking me to validate I am a human.

2. Playstations has blocked an access to the server since it think this is a virus attack. Playstation to this A8 router with this version of FW is blocked. but if I connected

Playstation to iphone hotspot works fine. No problem.

This is very annoying. Please fix this ASAP or let me know how to downgrade the firmware.

Log file attachment failed. So here is the log

  @Zzingoh

You would just go here, Download the firmware and manually install it.  In some cases, you can't downgrade.  A firmware's release notes will indicate if downgrading is not possible.  Generally that only happens when a security flaw is being patched.  In this router's case a new firmware is not available so you might want to try that file first.

Thank you for the reply.
As I mentioned in previous email, I tried old firmware manually but it failed. It started firmware upgrade but failed around 10-20%.

please let me know other method

  @Zzingoh

Manual and linking the router to the cloud for an OTA are the only update methods.  Downgrading is limited to manual only.  As I stated manual downgrades may not be possible, in those instances the firmware notes SHOULD state that downgrading is not possible.  If this does not then you may be losing communication with the router.  Are you physically connected via Ethernet or doing this over wireless?  If over wireless then I would recommend ethernet.

Also since I mentioned the new firmware now available, have you attempted to upgrade and see if your concerns are addressed?

I have tried with Lan cable and have same problem that downgrading firmware failed.

Also i have tried early drop of new release and have same problem. I can try the official release but i doubt it is working
