Newbie confused about hw versions and firmware, features
I'm new to the Deco mesh ecosystem, coming off a 1st & 2nd gen eero mesh. Worlds better! I have wired backhaul with a Gigabit Xfinity plan and I'm seeing 800-900 Mbps when near the nodes, and 150-300 Mbps when far away. Couldn't be happier.
A little background for this post? I'm here because I installed my XE75 3-pack mesh a few weeks ago. Everything working great. Very happy. After all that was stable, I added a X50 Outdoor unit. I was in the app today, and I could've sworn a saw a feature to let me assign clients to a specific mesh node previously, ("preferred Deco signal source selection"?) but I don't see it now. So I looked for a forum and did some searching.
My suspicion is that adding the X50 Outdoor to the mesh negated that feature, but I haven't removed the X50 Outdoor to test it, yet. That's not the point of this post.
Trying to understand if I even have the right firmware to support that feature is what brings this post. The pics below are one of my XE75s, the box for the XE75 3-pack (AX5400), and the X50 Outdoor.
Do I have version 2, or do I have version 2.6 of the XE75?
Do I have version 1, or 1.6, of the X50?
My app says that I am up to date and that my XE75s are on "1.2.1 Build 20230601 Rel. 58453".
It says my X50 Outdoor is on "1.0.1 Build 20230105 Rel 35925."
The thing is, I don't see these versions on the firmware download pages.
XE75: For V2.6, I see V2.6_1.1.1 Build 20230327 as the latest, and for V2 I see V2_1.1.1 Build 20230327.
X50 Outdoor: For V1 I see V1_1.2.1 Build 20230607, and for V1.6 there is no firmware listed.
1. Is my OTA firmware ahead of what's currently on the download pages?
2. Should I have the "preferred signal source" feature with this XE75 build?
3. Is that feature turned off while I have the X50 Outdoor in the mesh?
4. What hardware versions do I actually have?
Thanks for your time,
Todd
