For some reason my mesh network will sporadically be slow when relying on the secondary Deco unit. I can confirm this by running a speed test when on the second unit, seeing latency be very spiky (slow, then fast, etc), and slowing slow download and upload speeds from all clients connected to that unit.

I can then pull the power on that and when it comes back online, see that network speeds are back to normal (250 up/down).  This has started a few months ago, and I can't seem to figure out why. I disabled the advanced features like beam forming and since it's in AP mode there is no QoS setting to disable.

I don't want to rely on restart mode as I have devices that are IoT related and want them to stay online at all times

  @gaieges Let me ask, do you have anything plugged in to any of the network ports on the secondary?

  @H242 I do not, it's just using mesh mode from the primary which is connected to google fiber

  @gaieges

Hi, Have you checked whether the Wi-Fi Backhaul on the satellite W7200 remains on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz when the speed slows down?

How often would you usually get this issue?

If possible, since they are both on the AP mode, please refer to this link to switch to a different unit as the main Deco to see whether it could properly work as the main Deco:

How to Set up the Satellite Deco or a new Deco to be the Main Deco

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@David-TP

Hi there,

It appears as though the back haul remains the same, I annotated the speed situation for a few cases where it was fast and slow according to a few other devices (Tv, Ps5, Iphone) as you can see in the images attached.

In terms of the frequency of the event, it happens about once every other day or so, up to daily and down to once a week or so.

I haven't tried flipping the devices but I will do that and report back. Thanks!

  @David-TP It seems as though switching the devices worked pretty well, it seems a bit more stable on devices connected to the secondary unit now.  I think I may notice every once a while that the main unit has started being a bit flakey from time to time, but not with any reliable reproduction.

For now I'll roll with this, thank you so much for the help!  I'll let you know if something similar pops up!
