@Tony_Gee Yes, It is unfortunate.  They almost had it working with a patch they provided for me once about a year ago.  It didn't always work though.  It also didn't remain working once subsequent firmware updates were applied, so I don't think they ever migrated the code into the production releases.

The only solution for me has been to allow my kids to grow older and for me to just give up on trying to enforce screen time schedules.

This has been very disappointing and frustrating givent he countless hours I have put into troubleshooting and trying to get it to work.

Model: Deco XE75PRO Hardware Version: US2.6 FW Version 1.2.3..... I have been trying to get my parental controls to work for about 5 days now. Support on the phone told me that in case my 10 year old wants to look at explicit sites- they should make sure to clear their cache first to ensure that the parental controls work so they don't look at explicit sites. In the case that that solution doesn't work, I should let my 10 year old know to reset his device often to ensure that the parental controls work in case he wants to look at explicit sites. (not verbatim but in essence) The only control Homeshield parental control's has is ensuring it wastes your time and money.

Not just me then?! Spoken to 2 different agents today and despite this thread and numerous other people involved in troubleshooting, they were totally oblivious.

Also told me "we don't do refunds". We'll see about that @TP-Link

Not only have you mis-sold a promise of being able to have control of what our families are exposed to, you also thought necessary to provide a sub standard app only interface then have the audacity to charge extra for features that don't work.

Whoever decided the the web interface was a nice to have in favour of an app that fails the moment you switch screens needs their head testing. Whoever persisted with the idea despite scathing feedback from the consumers that pay you is even worse.

I don't understand how this doesn't work properly.  I may go back to my Google WiFi setup.

I have a new XE75 and have all the same problems as everyone else. The Parental Controls just don't work and look like they never have, I've seen people complaining about this back to 2018. The profiles randomly cut off the internet when they shouldn't. Bedtime doesn't work at all.  My workaround was to set up the Guest network and put all the kids devices on it. I can then just turn the whole guest network on or off without affecting everyone else in the house.

Re:Parental Controls not working
Yesterday

2026 and this is still not working right.  We recently started enforcing screen time limits with our kids, and the Tether app/homeshield is just garbage.  You set it all up, and then seemingly it does one of 2 things.

1. Absolutely NOTHING - everything stays the same as it was, no limits, no tracking, no anything.

2. Locks down EVERYTHING - Nothing works, no internet, no websites, no gaming consoles, etc.

I don't know how they get away with charging for this, it doesn't work.  Is nobody using this stuff?

  @stewartn81

My solution to this problem was to press the reset button for 15-20 seconds to factory reset it. Then unplug and box up all the parts and list them for sale on line. I used the money from the sale to purchase an Asus ZenWifi BD4 mesh router.  The parental controls are free & built right into the app. Most of all they just work. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Re:Parental Controls not working
Yesterday

@stewartn81 after years of attempting to use these parental controls, and many crying kids who lost progress due to the internet suddenly turning off on a weekend.  I had to give up.

My kids are teenagers now and almost young adults.  They have outgrown the need for parental  controls.

Good try TP-link.

Better luck on the next generation.

Maybe you can get it working for my grandchildren.
