  @BigBode Regardless of the hardware version, you have no way to predict, when purchasing a Deco, the frequency of the firmware updates.

If the Deco works according to specs, I am not sure I really need firmware updates.

My issue is that they sell a model that, because of having different hardware versions, may not have compatible features with other units of the same model. They are marketed as being compatible. They choose to add features, and of course they support by fixing issues.

I would much rather see that they identify a new HW version as a new model. Make it obvious when you buy additional units that they might not support the full feature set. That seems much more upfront than the version numbering that goes up, then goes down. Differing release schedules for firmware that might add a feature to one version, but not another. The confusing charts that have to be explained by company reps in the forums to make even a little bit of sense. It all seems to be unnecessarily complex and confusing.

I am mostly happy with my mesh system. I have 50ish components in my home network most of the time. However, from time to time, my laptop disconnects. Once in a while a streaming device won't connect when I turn it on. Occasionally my app can't connect to the network so I can check status. Intermittent issues like these and seeing the details in this threat tends to erode consumer confidence in a product and a company.

If you are happy with your version of the product, great. I am happy for you.

I think tp-link could do better.

  @Riley_S

As someone else has already stated in this thread, it would be nice if the speed limit feature would be implemented in the other deco units. I recently upgraded from an Archer model which had the speed limit feature, to the be65 pro which doesnt have the speed limit feature, and I'm very disappointed. Why isn't the speed limit feature being implemented in other models?

To All That Stumble on This Thread.

TP-Link is now under FTC Investigation for Lack of Security on their devices.

This explains why TP-Link refuses to add Secure DNS to their Deco Devices.. They have a backdoor they are using to perpitrate Cyber attacks using their Home Networking Equipment.

I will be returning / Tossing ALL TP-Link products as this is a major security concern and the exact reason we ask for DoH / DoT.

  @mrtibbs Considering I've asked Admin this multiple times and been ignored, I'd say no time soon, if ever.

  @BadUpdate

Try unplugging every unit and just plugging in the main router (if you have more than 1) and see if having just 1 of them works, then gradually add in the rest

  @BigBode it was the QoS setting, which I didn't know anything about. I disabled it and now it all works.

Saturday

if this deco model can have a customizable speed limiter and QOS can the BE65 Pro that i have also get that functionality. As i mentioend in another thread the fibre network in australia has a very strong shaper on the upload side of things and it drops packets like nothing which drops the speed down. The QOS in the be65 pro does nothing to prevent that. Even setting it to a 10Mb/s and addign that device to the list doesn't limit the bandwith as QOS isn't meant to do so. A speed limiter would definately help with that.

thanks
