Satellite node with ethernet backhaul using wifi?
Satellite node with ethernet backhaul using wifi?

Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.11 Build 20240724 Rel. 38913

I've got a 3 node XE75 Pro setup and it's working (generally) fine.

Recently I noticed that one of my satellite nodes, which is connected using ethernet backhaul, is using wifi instead of ethernet.

I tried rebooting the network and disconnecting & reconnecting the ethernet, but it's still using wifi.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong and how I can fix it?

TIA

David

OK, I had a thought on why this may be happening ... is it possible that the wifi between the router & node is faster than 1gbs?

@fallingrock You have a direct Ethernet cable between the satellite Deco and the main Deco?

Yes.

Main deco goes into a switch, cable goes up to family room switch, cable from switch goes into satellite deco.

@fallingrock The connection between the main Deco and Internet does not go via any of those switches?

Correct ,.. Cable modem -> Main deco -> Switch -> Switch -> Satellite deco

Hey @fallingrock,

Could you find and let us know the model of the switch?

Have you tried (if possible in your setup) bypassing the switch and connecting the Decos directly via Ethernet?

@Ryan the main unit is connected to a d-link dgs-1024d. That connects to a trendnet teg-s50g which connects to the satellite.

Can I connect the main & satellite units using the 2.5gbs ports and then connect the trendnet switch to a 1gbs port on the satellite?
