I purchased an RE715X because the Amazon blurb said it supported ONEMESH. After hours of trying to make it work with my LinkSys access point, I learned in a Tech Support Chat the ONEMESH isn't compatible with the LinkSYS AP. As I had an unused used TP-LINK Archer AXE75 I went through the whole process of setting it up for my network. Since I have a Firewall/Router, and a combination wired and WiFi network, the AXE75 had to be configured in Access Point mode. Did that (not a fast process) and the AXE75 has replaced the LinkSYS AP. Then I spend hours following the RE715X ONEMESH setup instructions again and again and again thinking I must not getting the WPS timing correct. Downloaded the AXE75 user manual thinking I must have missed a step ... well I had ... I was supposed to go to the Advanced menu to enable ONEMESH. But there was no such option. Finally in another Tech Support chat, I learned that no TP-LINK router configured in AP mode would support ONEMESH. A restriction not on the AXE75 box, nor in the user manual. Since the AXE75 wasn't purchased for this purpose, I can't return it in protest so I've chosen to document the issue here so the next person can hopefully find this and avoid my lost time and frustration. (Yes, I searched here as I was trying to solve my problem)

OneMesh is a TP-Link proprietary technology.  It only works with compatible TP-Link Routers, which must be the base unit, and compatible TP-Link Range Extenders, which work as the satellite nodes.   OneMesh does not work with any other manufacturers.  This is one of the reasons TP-Link, in recent years, has opted for the industry standard EasyMesh.  EasyMesh allows for more robust deployments.  You can use routers and satellite nodes instead of just the base unit, and therefore have more than one router in an EasyMesh Network.   The good news is that both the RE715X and Archer AXE75 support EasyMesh, so if your Linksys AP does as well you should be able to use all 3 in a Mesh network using this EasyMesh feature.
