Parental control was working well until today. It doesn't seem to be blocking anything.

 

My router is configured to allow only whitelisted MAC addresses to prevent random MACs (like on iPhones). I have to approve all devices that join my Wi‑Fi.

 

Each of my children's devices is set up with their own profile for parental controls. I subscribe to HomeShield.

 

It was working fine until today. Now all the children’s devices are not blocked, but they can still access the internet. I tried to block them by doing all of the following without success:

 

  • Block by device
  • Block by family member’s bedtime
  • Block by time limits
  • Block by off-time

 

The time and time zones are correct. It no longer blocks for all devices. This is so frustrating.

Have you checked to make sure that "Private/Random MAC address" has been disabled.

I require devices to be whitelisted so if they use a private or random MAC address the router would block the connection. The issue is that nothing is being blocked. I confirmed the device is connected and assigned to the correct family member profile. I can see traffic from that device but the router will not block. This worked fine until this morning. None of the devices are being blocked for multiple children profiles.

Can you provide the hardware version of your units? You can find this info on the bottom of your deco. This will help us determine if there is a official or beta firmware that might already address this issue.

 

Also going to tag a member of the tp-link staff as it seems your not the only one with blocking not working correctly rigth now. Since this is the weekend for most of the staff you might not hear anything for 48 hours
