Model: Deco X5700
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0 Build 20250102 Rel. 65004

I'm running 4 X5700s on 3 stories of house (2 above, 1 basement level). The main floor has 2 nodes (1 on either end of the house), the other floors have the nodes centrally located. No wireless device is more than 25' from a node. I run the 5700's in AP mode with a separate firewall application (PFSense) doing the routing.

I have been steadily adding smart lights to my home. I am at 60 lights (bulbs, strips, etc), all Govee brand. I have another 15 or so wireless devices on the network. the Deco app shows a total of 67 connected at this moment, but as I type this, I am noticing the number is fluctuating between 57 and 67. This makes me think the mesh system cannot handle the full load of devices. Interestingly, the Deco app shows the Govee devices on the network with assigned IP addresses, but the Govee app says they are offline. I have reset, disabled/re-enabled the Govee devices, bounced my router, bounced my Decos, created a separate IoT network - pretty much done all the standard troubleshooting steps - all to no avail.

The primary issue seems to be that ALL Govee devices drop from the network at once. I have also noticed that a couple of other branded smart devices have dropped intermittently as well. I ran into this issue a couple of months ago. Govee Support said I should drop my Cloudflare DNS entry in my router and stick with Google's DNS addresses. I did so, and everything returned to normal functionality. Since then, I have added another dozen or so bulbs. And now, every Govee device has once again dropped from the network. I have a support request in to Govee on this, but I'm starting to wonder if the 5700's are unable to keep up with the number of wireless devices. I believe the documentation says these 5700s should be able to support up to 200 devices, but I suppose that depends on how much network traffic is consumed. I'm not sure what I should realistically expect.

Would love some feedback on what the issue might be or some further troubleshooting ideas. If it turns out I'm overloading the 5700's, is there a better solution to handle the traffic?

TIA!

I should add that, after disabling all but 28 Govee devices, the rest reconnected to WiFi. This is pretty much telling me that I am, in fact, overloading the capabilities of this mesh system. My next question is, would doing physical connections for backhaul improve the situation enough to avoid upgrading my mesh network?
