WiFi 7 EasyMesh Does Not Quite Support WiFi 7 as a Client
I'm not sure if this is user error, but I am using an HB610 whole home mesh WiFi7 system but it does not quite support WiFi 7 speeds as a client. I am using it as a client because it does not currently support VPN client. The agent router is an Archer BE550 Pro. The Deco BE65 Pro is the closest match.
As mentioned, when used as a client, the only network that is enabled and synced with the agent is 2/5GHz. The 6G network is enabled but it automatically assigns the default SSID and password (does not sync with the agent). MLO, Guest and all other networks are disabled and not synced with the agent.
Can this be fixed? thank you
Note: there is no tag for EasyMesh in the Deco forum. Also, there is no forum that supports the HB mesh system in the drop-down list.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
Here is an older post: https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/662610
and FAQ-Q13-General questions about EasyMesh
It seems like EasyMesh doesn't actually include the 6GHz backhaul in the very beginning and needs a future firmware upgrade.
The previous firmware release notes of Archer BE550 Pro haven't mentioned this modification. Neither did HB610.
It is suggested to reach out to the technical support to check whether the current firmware versions of Archer BE550 pro and HB610 support extending 6GHz/Guest/MLO as well as IoT networks via EasyMesh technology:https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/contact-technical-support/
Best regards.

@David-TP noob question but what does ethernet backhaul do and how does it extend coverage if the devices are next to each other?
I currently see an ethernet icon on the HB610 as a satellite. I'm not sure what that means in relation to backhauling, other than the obvious that it's connected via ethernet.
I have Kasa light switches on 3 floors, the garage and an RE270 extender in the 4th floor (basement). I can't extended coverage as a mesh because the IoT network is not availabe/disabled on the HB610. I probably should have bought another basic AC band extender for them since they're fixed, much cheaper.

off topic but I wish they came out with fewer similar models so that there would be more time and resources for support. Also a single app would have been great as currently I use Kasa, Tether and Aginet. If I get cameras, I'll have to add Tapo. Then there's Deco if you have that. I'm assuming Kasa is getting phased out so I'll have to keep an old Android/iOS device around since the app won't be avaiable on new devices. Edit: I just noticed Kasa devices are getting migrated to Tapo. The Kasa app is a better experience but one less app is good.

Hi, the "Ethernet Backhaul" in the Mesh network is mainly used to increase the Mesh speed and stability on the satellite unit/Mesh agent, especially when there are wall Ethernet ports reserved in different rooms. Compared with HB610, a general WiFi 7 range extender, like RE655BE, would be a better choice.
It is indeed very convenient if one simple App could properly manage Deco, Archer, as well as Tapo/Kasa devices. Given the distinct configuration processes and usage scenarios of these product lines, many challenges still await senior engineers to overcome in the future.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@David-TP There's currently decent a sale for the RE655. I bought the HB610 for much less and it's technically supposed to do more, basically a BR router.

@David-TP I was reading the manual of the RE655/53BE manual and they do not appear to have an IoT and Guest network. The HB610 seems like it's a real good product if everything works like it should.

You're right. RE655/53BE doesn't support the IoT network and the Guest Network.
I think HB610 might not be the hiccup. If you don't have Archer BE550 Pro, 2*pack HB610s allow extending IOT/Guest/MLO Networks in the Whole Mesh network, just like Deco Mesh, which allows the same features to be extended on each unit.
Best regards.

@David-TP Yeah but the HB210 currently does not support VPN client, which I need. I do not have upload speeds to use it as a server.

@David-TP I submitted a ticket. They said hopefully engineering will do an update. That's pretty much all that can be done at this point.
