Model: Archer A5
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 0.2 v0093.0 Build 190125

So this is a dual band router with 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi.

My problem is when im using the 2.4ghz it is slow, the speed test results for the 2.4ghz is 9Mbps. but when i connect to 5ghz its 85Mbps.

I tried rebooting and resetting the router but the 2.4ghz wifi is still slow.

This is not normal because i tried using an old router for this and it seems good.

The reason i bought it because i need the 5ghz wifi because its fast, but still want to retain the 2.4ghz wifi.

Please help if my router is defective

2.4 ghz is slower than the 5 ghz however e the 2.4 does cover more distance. A lot of things effect the WIFI speed. There are more devices that use 2.4 so it is more likly to have interference. You can try using specific channels and channel widths. Distance is a factor also. See the following link for way more info on WIFI. https://www.duckware.com/tech/wifi-in-the-us.html

@kobi23

A couple of questions:

  • What is your ISP speed?
  • How are you testing the speed?
  • Do you have a wired device that you can test the speed?
  • What are your Wireless 2.4Ghz settings,  mode, channel, and channel width?
  • What device is this that gets these readings?

On the 2.4Ghz band, try changing the channel and see what happens?
