Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel. 75286

So before Thanksgiving break I had pre-teen parental controls set up on my son's school chromebook and he could attend his classes via Zoom just fine.  I believe there was an update over the break and now Zoom is blocked with the same parental controls setup as he had pre-break.  I tried removing different categories but couldn't figure out which one was blocking Zoom.  I ended up having to remove the parental controls from his device in order for Zoom to function so that he could attend class.  Does anyone know which parental control settings are blocking Zoom so that I can allow for Zoom and maintain parental controls on his device?

@Kirkb1693

on my M9 I experienced the same thing. Turns out zoom was being blocked under the "pay to surf" category. Removing that specific category from the filter allowed zoom to begin working again.

@Kirkb1693

I confirmed it was 'Pay to Surf' in the parental controls.  Moved that to the Available Categories and it solved my problem.  Confirmed by attempting the same Zoom meeting with it on/off several times.

AX6000  1.1.1 Build 20200714 rel.18254(5553)

iPad iOS 13.3 (stuck at that version by school district)

No problem before Thanksgiving break.  Messed with it for three straight school days...

Good luck parents.

We shut off parental controls because they were blocking entirely legitimate educational site. Bottom line: The update recently issued has blocked zoom. On laptops, desktops, iPads. Our mesh system worked perfectly prior to the last update. Now our kids are missing classes and lectures because they cannot access Zoom. Just about ready to pack up this Deco equipment up and return it. TP-Link Custom support is a miserable and they obviously fail to test their own updates before deployment.

@Kirkb1693

Zoom is classified as social media.  We were not told that TrendMicro added anything to their blocked filters but please provide as much detail as possible so we can look into it.  We need to know what hardware version of the Deco M9 and what your current firmware is.  Also any other sites that may be blocked that shouldn't be.

@Kirkb1693

I have Deco M5 with the same issue, My son and daughter missed half class session while I was investigating what was the problem because it was sorking fine prior to nov 27. TP-Link must update the database making an expception on tools that kids are using for their schools like Zoom, we are not able to use parental control due this.

@Carl

My Hardware :  Deco M9 Plus (US) Version 1.1

My Firmware : Version 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel. 75286

I haven't noticed any other site being blocked (other than Zoom) that shouldn't but I will update you if I encounter them.  I removed both "Online Communication" and "Social Networking" from the categories under parental controls and Zoom was still being blocked.  The only thing that got it working was removing the parental controls altogether which is not my preferred solution.

Same problem with our M5, since the update. Parental controls are not configured to block anything, just for downtime at night. Still affects Zoom.

I have the same issue and it's frustrating with kids not able to join classes using zoom. It all started this week, perhaps with a firmware upgrade over the weekend. The monthly report shows zoom as blocked in kids' profile. But there is no ability to enable Zoom in the parental controls. I have version: 2.3.13
